Chris Conte: NFL worth early death

Chicago Bears Safety Chris Conte came up with a controversial quote when asked if he would continue playing in the NFL even though he has suffered 2 concussions this season. "As far as after football, who knows. My life will revolve around football to some point, but I'd rather have the experience of playing and, who knows, die 10, 15 years earlier than not be able to play in the NFL and live a long life. It's something I've wanted to do with my life and I wanted to accomplish. And I pretty much set my whole life up to accomplish that goal. So I don't really look toward my life after football because I'll figure things out when I get there and see how I am." I don't think any sport is more important than years of anyones life. Chris Conte has had a fine career just to make it to the NFL and play competitively even if only for a few seasons. He should retire knowing he made it to the best league in the world for football. He will be sacrificing years with his future children just for football? I think that's too much.

Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray has hand surgery

Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray had surgery Monday to repair a broken bone in his left hand. Murray, however, has not been ruled out for this week's game against the Indianapolis Colts. "The biggest question we have to ask ourselves is, is he functional to do his job?" Garrett said. "Can he hold the football? Can he carry it under duress? Can he block? Can he do the things necessary to play the position?" The Cowboys definitely cannot afford Murray missing any time. The last 2 games of the season are critical for the Cowboy's chances and seeding for the playoffs. They will be playing a big game this Sunday against the Colts and then will be playing divisional rival the Washington Redskins. Murray is currently accounting for 38% of the Cowboys total offensive yards, which is first in the NFL by 4 percent! That is crazy numbers and the Cowboys will have to rely on Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar if Murray cannot suit up. Do you think the Cowboys should risk further injury to Murray and let him play this Sunday or should they let him rest?

Police Demand Apology From Browns

Browns receiver Andrew Hawkins was very clear about his stance on a recent controversial event by wearing a shirt during warmups saying "Justice for Tamir Rice - John Crawford" on the front and "The Real Battle of Ohio" on the back. The Cleveland police were definitely not amused. "It's pretty pathetic when athletes think they know the law," Jeff Follmer, head of the Police Union said. "They should stick to what they know best on the field. The Cleveland Police protect and serve the Browns stadium, and the Browns organization owes us an apology." The Browns replied with a statement that said: "We have great respect for the Cleveland Police Department and the work that they do to protect and serve our city. We also respect our players' rights to project their support and bring awareness to issues that are important to them if done so in a responsible manner." Is this not the same police who will never apologize for anything they do? They definitely did not apologize for killing the 12-year-old shot by a Cleveland police officer while he was carrying a toy gun in a Cleveland park, yet they except an apology from a sports team? What do you think about this?
