Greek Medicine and Philosophy:

Ancient Greek medicine, along with Egyptian and Chinese medicine, was the most important in the ancient world. Many people regard the Greeks to be the founders of Western medicine. Greek medicine dates back over 4000 years, from Asclepius to Hippocrates and Galen. The Unani medicine is another example of how essential Ancient Greek medicine remains even now. It's popular in the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and especially India. This Perso-Arabic method was discovered in the ideas of Hippocrates and Galen, two ancient Greek physicians, and brought to light with the help of some Persian physicians. Medicine and Philosophy: Greek philosophers were known as "soul doctors." The separation of Science and Philosophy is the drama of our time. Science acts without regard for morality, ethics, or spiritual ideals. You can’t teach medicine without known Philosophy. I don’t know where to begin, Socrates, Pythagoras, Anaximander, Aristotle,  Plato, Thales of Miletus, Diogenes, Heraclitus, Epictetus, Epicurus and the list goes on and on… Platonism, Neoplatonism, Epicureanism, Stoicism, Hedonism, Cynicism and of course the Eleatic philosophical schools. Diet was an essential aspect of Greek philosophical thinking in Ancient Greece. Pleasure and well-being in one package. The ancient Greek cuisine was characterized by its simplicity. Many CBT therapists today repeat stoic quotes, from Epictetus like:  ‘It is not things themselves that disturb people but their judgments about those things.’ Or Seneca: “We suffer more often in imagination than in reality.”
