DIY glitter party headbands
This is a perfect project for creating some fun headbands that will ad a little extra flair and sparkle to your NYE's fashion ensemble. This DIY tutorial comes from the creative people at Brit + Co. Materials For this project, you will need: -- Plastic prong headband (you can find these in a beauty section of a store or online) -- Pipe cleaners in gold, silver and purple -- Scissors -- Pom poms -- E6000 craft glue (you can find this at a craft store or online) -- Star template (you can print this out) -- Small gold studs -- Needle-nose pliers This DIY project makes three different headbands. If you want to just make one of them, look at the specific directions for just that one. Pom pom headband Take some silver pipe cleaners and form them into large pointed triangles and then wrap them around the headband. Then, wrap some more silver pipe cleaners around the entire top of the headband to make the headband completely silver. Then, use the craft glue to attach colored pom poms to the headband. Star headband Take the star template and make three stars from pipe cleaners: two gold and one silver. Then, take small pieces of pipe cleaner and attach the stars to the headband. Wrap gold pipe cleaners around the top part of the headband and use some craft glue to secure the pipe cleaners. Purple stud headband Take purple pipe cleaners and make small triangles and attach to the headband. Alternate whether they stick out toward the front or the back. Then, take some more purple pipe cleaners and wrap them around the top part of the headband and secure with craft glue. Finally, use the craft glue to attach gold studs to the points and middle section of the purple pipe cleaners. Rock your cute headbands at a NYE party and enjoy! DIY Doctor Who Tardis shoes
Show your love of Doctor Who with these awesome Tardis shoes! These shoes are incredibly easy and cheap to make, and there are little tricks that will help you if you aren't incredibly artistic. This DIY tutorial comes from the wonderfully creative people at The Farmer's Daughter. Materials For this project, you will need: -- Blue canvas shoes (or you can get white ones and paint them blue) -- Black and white fabric paint -- Masking tape or painter's tape -- Black fabric permanent marker -- White paint pen -- Paint brush You can find the majority of these items at a craft store. Prepare your shoes Stuff your shoes full of newspaper so that they will keep the form while you paint them. Then, take masking tape and put the masking tape on the soles of the shoes. This will keep them clean while you paint the shoes. Draw the outline Place masking tape on the shoes, as shown in the first picture. (You can do this freehand or follow these steps if you need more help.) Then, take the black permanent marker and draw the outlines of the windows on the edge of the masking tape, as shown in the picture on the right. Paint on the shoes Use the paint brush and the fabric paint to paint on the black strip right beneath the opening of the shoes. Then, paint the white paint toward the toe of the shoes to make the windows, as shown in the picture. Write on the text Take the white fabric marker and write on the "Police Public Call Box" on the black strip beneath the opening of the shoes. Let the paint dry completely before wearing. DIY superhero shoes
I am geeking out hard over these shoes — how absolutely awesome are they?! I am such a big Marvel fan and I can't wait to try this DIY tutorial for myself. The good part about this DIY project is that it is fairly easy, but the result makes it look like it was very difficult! This DIY tutorial comes from the wonderfully creative people at Comic Con Family. Materials For this project, you will need: -- A pair of white canvas shoes -- 2 packs of Avengers (or any other superhero) napkins (you can usually find these at Wal-mart in the party section, at Party City or online) -- Painter's tape -- Mod Podge (matte) (if you want the shoes to be water resistant, get Outdoor Mod Podge) -- Small paintbrush -- 2 bowls or cups -- X-acto knife -- Clear plastic wrap or plastic bags -- Sponge brushes -- Clear sealant spray (optional) You can find the majority of these items at a craft store. Protect the soles of the shoes Use the painter's tape to completely cover the soles of the shoes. The Mod Podge doesn't work as well on rubber so you want to make sure only the canvas fabric of the shoes is exposed. Pick out your superhero Unfold the superhero napkins all the way. Pick out the superhero that you want to put on the shoe and use the small paintbrush to paint a thin line of water around that super here. Then, slowly pull the napkin piece away from the rest of the napkin. Paint on the Mod Podge Use the sponge brush and the Mod Podge to paint on the shoe where you want to put the napkin piece. Then, place the napkin piece on the shoe. Take a piece of plastic wrap and wad it up and rub it over the napkin piece to remove any wrinkles or air bubbles. Continue adding napkin pieces to the entire shoe Repeat the previous steps to cover the entire shoe with piece of the superhero napkin. Make sure the entire canvas part of the shoe is covered. Let the Mod Podge dry completely. Clean up the shoe and seal the napkins Use the X-acto knife to cut around the sole of the shoe and then remove the painter's tape. Make sure to take your time while cutting the napkins off so that you get a clean line. You will also need to use the X-acto knife to remove the napkin pieces from around the shoelace eyelets. Then, if you want, spray a layer of clean sealant spray over the entire shoe to seal the art. String the shoelaces back through the eyelets. Rock your awesome superhero-themed shoes! What other superhero-themed items would you like to see? I will try to find some projects so that you can make them easily!
