DIY starfish garland
Even though it's the dead of winter, that doesn't mean that you can't add some summer charm to your home or apartment. This DIY tutorial comes from the wonderful people at Desperate Craftwives (also, how amazing is that name for a blog?). Materials For this salt dough you will need:
-- 2 cups of all-purpose flour -- 1 cup of salt -- 3/4 to 1 cup of water For the rest of the project, you will need: -- Twine -- Bowl -- Toothpicks -- Baking sheet -- Scissors You can find all of these items at a craft and grocery store. Make the dough and form the starfish shapes Mix the flour, salt and water in a bowl and mix until the dough starts to form. Then, take small balls of dough and form it into a circle on a lightly-floured baking sheet. Use the toothpicks to form stars, as shown in the picture above. Also, use the toothpick to make a long indentation and poke small holes on each arm of the star. Finally, poke a bigger hole in one arm of the star to hang them up. Bake the starfish Bake the starfish in an oven on 200 degrees Fahrenheit for a couple of hours. You can also allow the starfish to air dry if you don't want to use an oven. String the starfish onto twine Take the twine and string it through the hole in the starfishes. String the starfish garland up in your living space and enjoy!
