THE STRONG ACCENT
In the 7th arrondissement of Paris, there is a newly designed apartment in an old building, which is unparalleled in this form. The Paris interior designer Sarah Lavoine is responsible for the interior design. Like no other, she knows how to incorporate extravagant elements into her ensembles as a matter of course. We at LoveDesigns think we've found out how this is possible: by cleverly combining minimalist simplicity with strong accents. Let's start in the living room. Here we can already see what is even more apparent in other rooms of the apartment. Under a lovingly restored stucco ceiling, a seating group in soft eggshell colours and dark white collects. The armchairs radiate sixties flair, which is neutralised by the timeless shape of the couch. The windows are framed by beige-grey curtains that almost disappear before your eyes in their restraint. However, this restrained design is complemented by a few absolute eye-catchers: the blue cubed carpet brings colour into the room and lets the orange backs of the Sixties Chairs shine wonderfully once again. The grey lacquered door breaks with the conventions of the old building and is thus staged as a kind of furnishing accessory. The undisputed highlight, however, is the three-part round mirror! With its golden setting, it is in itself a piece of jewellery, but the effect that in the large and small mirror the entire living room is reflected in three distorted images opens up completely different worlds visually once again. We also find the principle of "simplicity of form/eye-catching" in a sofa corner and in the bathroom. The seating niche is based on a simple wooden box with square upholstery, but the blue paint on the back wall gives it its very own character. If you look closely, you will see how the bird motif in the picture continues in the figures on the shelf. In the bathroom, Sarah Lavoine focuses on turning our visual habits upside down. While normally the walls of bathrooms shine with selected tiles, here we find grey walls. However, while normally in the showers monochrome minimalism, mostly in white, prevails, in this case, the shower with a mosaic in green and blue tones gets the big appearance. In the bedroom, there are elements that we have already come to know. A beautiful dark blue in the curtains and a mirror as a central separator between the sleeping and dressing areas, which is set up in a grey frame. But where is the strong accent here? Apart from the perfectly elaborated stucco, there is little to discover. At least as long as the light doesn't come on. Once switched on, the mirror shines in a light frame and the inside of the wardrobe is illuminated; but not with clumsy functional lighting, but with a warm, yellowish light tone that is more reminiscent of an art installation. In the second bedroom of the apartment, the accent is not so subtly set. The whole room is surrounded by wallpaper. With their modern visual language, the wall graphics catapult the old building into the here and now. At the same time, the door virtually disappears into the wallpaper. This wall-flush wallpaper door, on the other hand, could be interpreted as a reference to the secret doors that were often found in castles in the past. And so Sarah Lavoine with her references jumps light-footed through the epochs. Last but not least may be the biggest venture of this apartment, maybe even the riskiest design we have ever presented to you. The grey lacquered doors are already known, next to them another wallpaper door, the predominant colours grey, white, beige and black. But we don't want to talk about it, the exhibited art as well as the pleasant skylight fade in view of the floor, which with its three-dimensional design goes the whole hog. We are thrilled by so much chutzpah and excited to see if you feel the same way!

Un porc, tu nais?
