MLB Top Plays of the Day (09/22/15)
Here are your Top 5 Plays of the Day! 5. Andres Blanco (Philadelphia Phillies) The ball was grounded towards second, but Andres Blanco dives and smothers it. He throws to first on his knees and gets the batter out to end the inning. The way he spun on the ground was so smooth and elegant, he made it look easy. The Phillies also beat the Marlins 6-2. 4. Billy Burns (Oakland A’s) Shin Soo Choo lines the ball hard to center field. But Burns already took off as soon as the ball made contact and he is there to make the diving catch. Choo is robbed a hit as Burns makes a break and gets there before the ball hits the ground. Despite Burns's amazing play, the A's fall to the Rangers 8-6. 3. Nick Ahmed (Arizona Diamondbacks) Where are all these amazing shortstops coming from? Nick Ahmed dives for the ball and manages to stop it before it gets to the outfield. He doesn't even get up fully and manages to throw perfectly to the second baseman sideways! This is truly an amazing play and with the combination of a great defense and a hot offense, the Diamondbacks crush the Dodgers 8-0. 2. Francisco Lindor (Cleveland Indians) Francisco Lindor makes the list once again. He seems to pull something crazy every time he plays. This time, even the commentators thought for sure it was going to be a hit. But no, Lindor makes the diving backhand catch, gets up, and throws a laser beam to first to get the batter out. Cleveland however falls to Minnesota 3-1. 1. Jose Bautista (Toronto Blue Jays) Today's number one play goes to Jose Bautista. It was a fly ball to right and Chris Young was ready to tag home. But you have to understand good old Joey Bats is not simply a monster on offense. He may have a sore shoulder but this guy still has one of the best arms in the league. He makes the throw in time to get Young out. And do you know what's even more impressive? That was his second assist of the night. I know @jeff4122 is going to like this very much. Now that was your Top 5 Plays of the Day from last night's games! MLB Top Plays of the Day (09/13/15)
Here are your Top 5 Plays of the Day! 5. Jason Heyward (St. Louis Cardinals) The Cardinals' nightmare has finally come to an end. Cards' defense was exceptional today with Yadier Molina throwing out NL basestealing leader Billy Hamilton. But the MVP goes to Heyward for snagging Ivan De Jesus Jr.'s home run especially when the game was still in doubt. Heyward learned his lesson on Saturday when Adam Duvall's two run homer bounced off the top of the wall. The Cardinals beat the Reds 9-2. 4. Khris Davis (Milwaukee Brewers) If only the Brewers have won, this guy would have been the Man of the Match. Khris Davis robbed a homer from Francisco Cervelli and kept his team going. He not only robbed that homer, he blasted a two-run homer the next inning to keep the Brewers alive. Despite an amazing performance both defensively and offensivley by Davis, the Brewers lose to the Pirates 7-6 in the 11th inning. 3. Brian Bogusevic (Philadelphia Phillies) The Phillies' right fielder, Brian Bogusevic, and his fully extended diving catch robbed Dexter Fowler's potential double. You could see starting pitcher, Aaron Harang, show his appreciation with an air-five! With Bogusevic's amazing play, the Chicago Cubs lost to the Phillies (the worst team in the MLB) 7-4. 2. Lonnie Chisenhall (Cleveland Indians) The Indians' Right Fielder made this impressive play in deep right field. It was an all out diving effort all the way to the warning track and stole a possible double, or even a triple away from Rajai Davis. Despite Justin Verlander starting for the Tigers' mound, Detroit lost to the Tribe 7-2. 1. Brandon Barnes (Colorado Rockies) And the number one play from last night's games come from Brandon Barnes of the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies' left fielder not only made a phenomenal play, he made that play into a double play. This was the game-winner for the Rockies as they topped the Seattle Mariners 3-2. Barnes said he felt a bit dizzy after he slammed his head into the ground but he kept his focus to sling the ball to first and throw out Ketel Marte.
