Make Mozzarella Sticks Latin:
If you're looking for something better than mozzarella sticks, I introduce you to tequeños. Mozzarella cheese is actually NOT used in these. You'll be using queso blanco. It's really easy to make. If you're lazy, you can also try to find already made dough. You can find tequeños in Venezuela. What You'll Need: Queso blanco Vegetable oil
For the dough: 2 cups all purpose flour 1 egg 4-5 tablespoons cold water 2 teaspoons of salt 5 Tablespoons of cold butter 2 tablespoons of sugar
How To Make It:
1) Prepare the dough In a mixing bowl, add the flour, sugar, and salt. Mix well. Take butter and add to the batter. Mash butter and mix with ingredients. Mix well. Add egg and mix with wooden spoon. Add water and continue to mix. Once the dough is more uniform, take it out of the bowl and knead it over a flat surface. Knead for about 5 minutes. Once dough is soft and uniform, cover with clear wrap and let it sit for about an hour. Pour some flour on a flat surface. Flatten dough with rolling pin to about 1/4 inch thickness.
2) Cut the cheese into strips
3) Roll out dough and cut into strips
4) Wrap each piece of cheese with dough
Tequeños are also normally served with an avocado dip. You can use guacamole dip as well. Check out this recipe card from @danidee -- It's a pineapple guacamole dip! Mmmm!
