5 Ways To Stop Procrastinating
You have a deadline and you just can not focus. It happens to the very best of us and it completely kills time. Avoiding work is one of the biggest time wasters and even worse, it can keep you from having fun. Here are some tips to help you get done quick and get to doing what you really want to do. Don't sit next to your friends As I am trying to write this card there is a room full of people having conversations that I want, no need, to be involved in. It has actually taken me 10 minutes just to write the title. The most important thing you need to remember when trying to meet a deadline is to not sit by your friends. It may be a lonely library/work day but when you finish your work early you can catch up with your friends doing something you'll all enjoy...happy hour! If you have no other option, bring headphones Shut off All social media Websites have been developed to help students get rid of distractions during finals. Apps like SelfControl let you plug in the website that you need to be blocked from, be it Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Buzzfeed, anything, as well as the time frame you need to be banned from. Once you enter the information you must wait out the time. Its the best way to avoid the distractions. Listen to Classical Music It is extremely difficult to study while listening to music with lyrics. Your brain will only be half paying attention to your work as the other (obviously more fun) half will be rocking out to whatever music is blasting from your headphones. It has been scientifically proven that classical music helps you focus, even on those dry as hell science textbooks. Break it up into smaller portions We've all been there; the night before a huge paper and you have only the title. Staring at a blank page and knowing all the work that lies ahead of you makes it even harder to start. If you break up the assignment into smaller portions it will be much easier to not only finish, but to focus on. Writing 2 pages a day is a lot easier then 20 in one day. Although lets be real, some of you are still going to wait till the last second. Just break it up during the all nighter. Write 3 pages then get a snack, write another 3 and go for a walk or allow yourself to check Facebook. Smaller portions is always better. Have Something To Look Forward To! Have a reward waiting for you once you cross that invisible finish line! It can be meeting your friends at a party and drinking until you forgot about the assignment you just finished, or hopping into bed for a nice 17 hour slumber. Whatever it is make sure you know that after you power though your work you will be much happier!! Like I am now. And heres a perfect video to motivate you. If Shia LaBeouf doesn't get your ass moving, nothing will.
11 Struggles Of Ridiculously Creative People
Honestly, I'm not disorganized...I just have a lot of ideas. 1. People are always asking you "what do you do?" Creative people do a lot of things. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what you do, but you're good at whatever that is right? 2. You've got a lot of different interests. You like music and art, fashion, writing and movies. You play guitar and you draw. You like a lot of different kinds of websites and you work on a lot of different things. There's nothing wrong with that. People may criticize you for your divided focus, but you view it as a gift. 3. People are always concerned about your wellbeing. You tend to get stressed pretty easily, probably because you're doing a lot of things at once. You can't help it, you love to work and you love to let your creativity flow. Probably because you're being rewarded for just being yourself. 4. You are really eccentric, because most creatives are. It's lame to be weird as a kid, but totally cool to be weird as an adult. If you're going to be crazy, you better get paid for it. Being creative means that you're automatically a secret weapon. You come in when there's no other recourse. 5. You have an insatiable need to create, and sometimes it makes you crazy. You wake up in the middle of the night sometimes and you end up writing something profound in your notebook, or drawing a beautiful masterpiece. There is something inside of you that makes it hard to sleep or take off from work. You have to be doing something all the time, and alhough that leads to stress and anxiety...you will ultimately be rewarded. Because everyone loves a good worker, and people like it even more if that work is innovative. 6. When you get blocked up, it can totally cripple you. Your creativity is the thing that keeps you going. When you hit a road block, and the ideas stop flowing it can seem like you have nothing. But sure enough, when you put pen to paper to draw, write, paint or create, you know that something will come out. Because it has to. 7. Your creativity isn't a hobby...it's your life. It offends you when people don't value it as an asset. Sure, your'e not like everybody else, but that's a really good thing. Creativity is something that not everyone can possess. It's a natural ability and when people tell you that you can't use it, or that it's not valuable, they're wrong. 8. You constantly worry about missing opportunities, and not moving quickly enough. Because your brain is always firing on all cylinders it's easy to become anxious. When those blocks happen, things can get trapped and ideas start to falter. It seems like you're always creating something new, and when that doesn't happen...well, it might seem like the end of your world. 9. You're always fighting with yourself about art and commerce. What can make you the most money doesn't necessarily yield the most artistic results. There's a constant struggle in your head based on a key struggle that has been happening for centuries. It's a fundamental thing. You want to be creative, and make art. And people want to sell your creativity for profit. You have to find the good in what you're doing. 10. You have a serious fear of becoming a "starving artist". You don't want to prove all of your haters right. People in creative fields, or creatives in non-creative fields are always pitted against those who go the more "traditional" route. It's something you'll have to deal with. Creatives are automatically viewed as the underdog, simply because people tend to misunderstand what you're doing. 11. No matter what holds you back, you find a way to get past it. Because you're creative, and nothing can stop you. You're constantly inventing new ways of doing things, and you won't stop until you change the world.
7 Quotes That Wont Make You Feel That Bad About Failure.
Life in your twenties is pretty much all failure. Actually, failure happens a lot more in life then success; thats why success always tastes so sweet. But for some reason failure seems to be everyones worse fear. That failure somehow means failing at life, failing completely. But that isn't true. Failing is a part of life! Failure is what MAKES success stories! Don't believe me, check out these amazing quotes that truly show its failure is what makes life interesting. I know this might sound a little cliche but if you stop trying because you are afraid to fail than you aren't really living at all. Life isn't meant to be lived in fear and mistakes happen. Embrace them. Its impossible not to learn from failure, even if what you learn is how to NOT do something. That just means you'll know better for next time. What I love about this quote is that even if you do fail at reaching your goal, your attempt has gotten you that much closer so why the hell should you stop now? We are all afraid of being copies of a copy of a copy. We strive to stand out, to create a legacy; yet fear of failure will only lead to a copy of a copy. Nothing original was ever created from someone else's success, but from constant trail and error. I LOVE THIS QUOTE. To often do we let failure linger with us like a pesky neighbor we just can't shake. We must remember that failure is not a person and can, in fact, remain in the yesterday. Life isn't about being perfect, its about being strong, and courageous, and kind, and remarkable. Those things don't come easy and failure only makes those attributes on a person that much stronger. And my all time favorite quote from Charlie Chaplin. Failure is an inevitable; it is how you handle your failings that will define your life. Make sure you can joke about yourself. Its the only way to make it though with a smile.
