Mariah Carey's Dress "Popped" on Live TV! (and she cursed too!)
Good Morning America's Lara Spencer deserves a Nobel. The TV anchor, 43, kept a straight face before a live TV audience and a crowd of hundreds in NYC's Central Park as Mariah Carey dealt with early-morning grogginess -- and a narrowly-missed, nearly disastrous wardrobe malfunction.
After complaining to Spencer that she's "never up at this hour," Carey, clad in a tight gold Versace gown, announced: "The back of my dress just popped." Holding up the front of her dress to avoid any potential nip slips, the Grammy winner and American Idol judge called out designer Donatella Versace as helpers quickly rushed to her aid. "I love you, Donatella, but it popped, darling."
As Spencer attempted to keep things moving during the dress triage, Carey continued to ramble. "I just wanted to change the ensemble, you know," the mother of two said. "What should we call this, the Central Park Saga? It seems like a YouTube moment, possibly a Spotify moment!"
As her handlers struggled to repair the dress, Spencer also held up the front of the dress from prying eyes. Joked Carey, who was anxious to start her performance: "I'll just hold them up the hold time!"
After a much-needed commercial break, Carey sang a few of her hits for the crowd, with just a few hiccups. During "Always Be My Baby," she failed to get her mic pack to clip onto her dress, so held it awkwardly as she crooned. Later, she even cursed on live TV during another frustating moment. "Oh s--t! You didn't hear that.."
