NFL Wild Card Week Recap
Wild Card weekend is one of my favorite weekends in the NFL season, and this weekend proved why once again. There were four games and two of them came down to the absolute wire, while the others offered us some insight as to what the rest of the playoffs might look like. Here's how it all went down. Chiefs smack Texans This one was ugly right from the start. Knile Davis took the opening kick off to the house for a TD and Kansas City never looked back, beating the Texans 30-0 when it was all said and done. Make no mistake about it - the Chiefs were as good as the Texans were awful. Houston turned the ball over 5 times (all by QB Brian Hoyer) and the Chiefs' defense dominated while doing plenty on the offensive side to turn Houston away. Easy win, and for Kansas City, it's on to New England for a really exciting matchup next weekend. Look out, everyone - the Chiefs could be here to stay. They've now won 11 in a row. Steelers sneak by in a thriller This was the best game of the week. Pittsburgh had a big lead, then Cincinnati came charging back, only to come up with two idiotic penalties in the last minute of the game to allow Pittsburgh to kick a game-winning FG and take it, 18-16. Cincinnati should be ashamed to have lost this game. Vontaze Burfict should be suspended for the hit he put on Antonio Brown - it could have killed the man. And there's no excuse for Adam Jones' penalty, either. Cincinnati had this one in their hands - it would have been their first playoff win in ages - but they let their heads get to them and flushed it down the toilet. Coach Marv Lewis is now 0-7 in the playoffs, and Pittsburgh moves on to Denver. Minnesota blows it at the end What heartbreak for the Vikings. They played a great game in the freezing cold and were up 9-0 late. Seattle turned it around with two really solid drives to take a 10-9 lead, but Minnesota was ready to steal the lead back again at the very end. Under a minute left and in range of a 27-yard field goal, it was all up to kicker Blair Walsh - and he choked. From 27 yards. This one really stings for Minnesota, who is sent packing, while Seattle was gifted a win and are one step closer to returning to the Super Bowl for the third consecutive year. They may not have deserved this one, but they'll take it, and head off to Carolina for what should be a great game next week. Pack crush 'Skins No one gave the Redskins a chance in this one, and everyone was right. Even though the Packers aren't at their best right now, Washington isn't a real playoff team and they showed it. Green Bay was down early, but came storming back and took it with a final of 35-18. Washington heads home after a surprise playoff appearance, while Green Bay is on their way to Arizona to play the Cardinals next week. My picks went 4-0 this week! I guess I'm finally starting to earn the title The Sports Guru! :) How did your picks go this week? NFL Wild Card Week Top Plays!
What a great weekend of football it was as the playoffs finally got underway. All four games brought something interesting and each one had some crazy plays for us to feast our eyes on! Check out the top 5 plays of the week here! 5. Russell Wilson vs. Vikings The king of clutch. Wilson sees the snap go way behind him and rather than just sitting on it for a huge loss, he has the presence in mind to pick it up, immediately look downfield, and find the wide-open WR for a huge gain inside the 5. A play that could've been a 15 yard loss turned into a 30 yard gain - that's a game changer. 4. Jordan Reed vs. Packers Jordan Reed has had one of the best seasons of any TE in the league this year and he shows just how talented he is with this great one-handed snag in yesterday's game vs. the Pack. Amazing arm strength to haul it in, then he shows off some quick moves to pick up a few more yards after the catch. 3. Knile Davis vs. Texans This is the play that got the weekend started - with the first touch of the NFL playoffs, Knile Davis brought back the opening kick off 106 yards for the score! He was never touched - amazing blocking by the Chiefs' special teams! 2. Kam Chancellor vs. Vikings If you know me, you know I love defense - and Kam Chancellor made one of the plays of the week here. Adrian Peterson is as strong as strong comes, but Chancellor rips the ball right out of his grip and forces the fumble. What a game it was in Minnesota. 1. Martavis Bryant vs. Bengals Are you kidding me? Bryant comes up with one of the plays of the season as he somehow manages to maintain possession of the ball, flipping upside down and putting it between his legs for the score. What. A. Play. Which one was your favorite? @Starbell808 @karencorchado @BrookieyElba @ValerieAlissaPa @Link4TW @sanazsanaz @TravisBeck @Shippudenguy21 @gatorchick96 @MatthewBoughton @MarcusJiles @BrandonMcNeil @KyleBerke @DerekGumtow @havic @Straightshooter @yaakattackk @RodneyYoung @DreJones @JonathanKerns @TravisManning @GalacticChakra @smothgreen @afxs @johnnolastname @ChristopherKenn @ChasePage @coreywriley91 @MrTenThirty @JasonNilsson @addri @ChrisStephens @AniBreo @VeronicaArtino @TomasVasquez @oct6eg10 @Darlin972 @ALEXCAMACHO @GabrielaAlvarez @strawhatblakley @Silver925 @RyanGraham96 @brolyxxrborn @martinesquivel @TiffanyPerez @PASCUASIO @ShoMoPayton @mackenzieorr186 @EvanYannetti @RaulGamboa @in4mtoxic006 @PaulFotiadis @sanRico @BlakeKaler @lilleonz @misterE
[The Sports Guru] NFL Playoff Picks
All right, with the playoffs upon us, we've identified the matchups (see my card from yesterday with the full list of games!) and there's only one thing left to do: Let's make some picks. AFC Wild Card round: Chiefs over Texans Steelers over Bengals I'm taking both road teams in the Wild Card week. Straight up, I think both of these teams are better than their hosts. Divisional Round: Steelers over Broncos Patriots over Chiefs I think the Steelers will get another road win, but the Patriots will do just enough to end the Chiefs' amazing winning streak. I don't believe in Denver's offense, and Pittsburgh will be plenty used to playing in the cold weather. Championship Round: Steelers over Patriots That's right folks, I'm taking the Wild Card Steelers to go all the way to the Super Bowl. It's going to be very difficult for them to win three road games in a row, but they have in my opinion the best offense in the league and a passing game that just cannot be stopped. Antonio Brown is uncoverable and Ben Roethlisberger knows how to play clutch football. They also have the advantage of being a cold-weather team, so playing games in January in places like Denver and New England won't bother them. The Patriots have too many injuries to make a Super Bowl run this year; my money is on Pittsburgh! NFC Wild Card Round: Seahawks over Vikings Redskins over Packers No one seems to be giving the Redskins a fair chance, but Green Bay isn't the team this year that we have seen for the past few seasons. They make too many mistakes on both sides of the ball and I think the red-hot Redskins offense can take advantage. The Seahawks have been here before and will overcome the home team Vikings due to their experience. Divisional Round: Panthers over Seahawks Cardinals over Redskins Panthers-Seahawks will be a game for the ages, but I think the Panthers, who many will probably pick to be upset in this game, will have enough to get it done. Playing at home will be a huge help for them, not to mention the extra week of rest. Seattle will put up a great fight but I don't see them going to their third straight Super Bowl. And, despite getting blown out in Week 17 by Seattle, I think Arizona has enough to beat Washington and move on. Championship Round: Panthers over Cardinals My pick to go to the Super Bowl from the NFC is the Carolina Panthers. This team went 15-1 for a reason and I think the week of rest that their first-round bye offers them will do them a lot of good. Playing at home in January means a lot, especially for a Carolina fanbase enjoying their best season ever. Arizona is a great team, but I think they will come up a bit short in this one. Carolina makes good on their 1st-overall seed and beats out the rest of the NFC this year. Super Bowl My pick for this year's Super Bowl winner is the Pittsburgh Steelers. No, Pittsburgh is not a perfect team, but I think they are going to get hot behind their unstoppable offense. They can put up points on anyone. They got handed a gift by the Jets who lost in Week 17 to allow the Steelers to slip in to the playoffs and I say they're going to take full advantage. Pittsburgh over Carolina in the Super Bowl. You heard it here first. Am I crazy for picking a Wild Card team? Who are you taking to go all the way? @Starbell808 @karencorchado @BrookieyElba @ValerieAlissaPa @Link4TW @sanazsanaz @TravisBeck @Shippudenguy21 @gatorchick96 @MatthewBoughton @MarcusJiles @BrandonMcNeil @KyleBerke @DerekGumtow @havic @Straightshooter @yaakattackk @RodneyYoung @DreJones @JonathanKerns @TravisManning @GalacticChakra @smothgreen @afxs @johnnolastname @ChristopherKenn @ChasePage @coreywriley91 @MrTenThirty @JasonNilsson @addri @ChrisStephens @AniBreo @VeronicaArtino @TomasVasquez @oct6eg10 @Darlin972 @ALEXCAMACHO @GabrielaAlvarez @strawhatblakley @Silver925 @RyanGraham96 @brolyxxrborn @martinesquivel @TiffanyPerez @PASCUASIO @ShoMoPayton @mackenzieorr186 @EvanYannetti @RaulGamboa @in4mtoxic006 @PaulFotiadis @sanRico @BlakeKaler @lilleonz @misterE

Are you ready for some football? @Starbell808 @karencorchado @BrookieyElba @ValerieAlissaPa @Link4TW @sanazsanaz @TravisBeck @Shippudenguy21 @gatorchick96 @MatthewBoughton @MarcusJiles @BrandonMcNeil @KyleBerke @DerekGumtow @havic @Straightshooter @yaakattackk @RodneyYoung @DreJones @JonathanKerns @TravisManning @GalacticChakra @smothgreen @afxs @johnnolastname @ChristopherKenn @ChasePage @coreywriley91 @MrTenThirty @JasonNilsson @addri @ChrisStephens @AniBreo @VeronicaArtino @TomasVasquez @oct6eg10 @Darlin972 @ALEXCAMACHO @GabrielaAlvarez @strawhatblakley @Silver925 @RyanGraham96 @brolyxxrborn @martinesquivel @TiffanyPerez @PASCUASIO @ShoMoPayton @mackenzieorr186 @EvanYannetti @RaulGamboa @in4mtoxic006 @PaulFotiadis @sanRico @BlakeKaler @lilleonz @misterE
Monday Night Football: I'm taking the Cowboys!
So @christianmordi supported the Redskins in tonight's game on Monday Night Football after @mchlyang started the competition card and I can't help but take the other side. I'm picking the Cowboys tonight! I know, I know - the Cowboys are 3-8 on the season and are really struggling of late. They have lost 6 of 7 and frankly have looked terrible since the very beginning of the season. But I don't trust the Redskins at all. While Kirk Cousins has been great recently, the rest of the team is very unconvincing. I have never been a fan of their style and just don't really see them as viable playoff contenders despite the recent noise they've been making. They're just 5-6 on the season and to me that's pretty representative of what they are: below average. The Cowboys, on the other hand, have one of the league's most dangerous players in WR Dez Bryant. I absolutely love watching Dez play as he can be virtually unguardable when he's on his game. He's got a huge frame and amazing hands to go along with Olympic speed. QB Tony Romo is out and that hurts, but for Dez, it almost doesn't matter who's throwing it. No, Matt Cassel isn't any good, but I think he's good enough to get the job done vs. Washington. So, with all that said, I'm taking the 'Boys tonight. Am I crazy to take the underdog in this one, on the road on Monday Night, or do you see the upset? @Starbell808 @karencorchado @BrookieyElba @ValerieAlissaPa @Link4TW @sanazsanaz @TravisBeck @Shippudenguy21 @gatorchick96 @MatthewBoughton @MarcusJiles @BrandonMcNeil @KyleBerke @DerekGumtow @havic @Straightshooter @yaakattackk @RodneyYoung @DreJones @JonathanKerns @TravisManning @GalacticChakra @smothgreen @afxs @johnnolastname @ChristopherKenn @ChasePage @coreywriley91 @MrTenThirty @JasonNilsson @addri @ChrisStephens @AniBreo @VeronicaArtino @TomasVasquez @oct6eg10 @Darlin972 @ALEXCAMACHO @GabrielaAlvarez @strawhatblakley @Silver925 @RyanGraham96 @brolyxxrborn @martinesquivel @TiffanyPerez @PASCUASIO @ShoMoPayton @mackenzieorr186 @EvanYannetti @mchlyang @christianmordi
