Kamala Khan is going where no hero has gone before.
If you haven't read the new Ms. Marvel comics yet, you really need to. Kamala is both one of the most recent and one of the best characters Marvel has come up with. Comics Alliance called it one of the most important comics to come out in 2014, and they're not wrong. Kamala is the first American Muslim superhero. She's brave and loyal, and ready to save the day. And in her spare time, she writes Wolverine fanfiction. She's definitely a better hero than we deserve.
While Marvel has worked on audiobook projects in the past, this will be the first comic to be adapted directly (via Mashable). Which means that Ms. Marvel will be the first comic made accessible to people who are visually impaired.
"I'd say come at me bro, but I have a feeling you're gonna do that anyway."
The new Ms. Marvel comics were seen as a risk by some, but the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Comic book stores have been selling out. And the success is all due to Kamala's character. She's incredibly relatable, without sacrificing her integrity as a hero.
"The fact that this character is expanding beyond the comics page just goes to show how much she has resonated with a larger audience," said Sana Amanat, Marvel’s director of content and character development. "Whether you’re a fan of the series or new to the comic, you will fall in love with this adaptation of Ms. Marvel as her vivid world is brought to life for the first time as a GraphicAudio production."
Volume 1: No Normal will be available on Graphic Audio this Monday.
