LR Beautiful Liar Reaction
This gif sums up my reaction to LR Beautiful Liar MV

The Vocals

Ravi's deep rap contrasting perfectly with Leo's soft vocals enhanced the concept of the MV. Also, I have a thing for when rappers sing so the parts where Ravi was singing with Leo just killed me. Leo's voice was heart wrenching and when you look up the meaning for the lyrics...:'(

The Concept

I think it is a fresh take on a familiar theme. There have been other songs where the guy/girl leaves their girlfriend/boyfriend because they think it is for the best. However, this is a creative and novel way of portraying the emotions involved.

The Music Video

The MV has an artsy feel to it, which I love, and it's obviously well thought out. The imagery and symbolism in it are absolutely perfect. Observations Until the end, where the girl leaves, Leo's movements are minimal and constrained like a rigid mask, but Ravi's movements are frantic portraying the passion, anger, emotion. Ravi moves like a mad man who can't control himself which is what one might feel when emotions override rationality. The costume choice is also on point. Leo, the false facade, is pristine and monochromatic while Ravi, the true inner self, is "messy" and colorful. He is covered in tatoos, his hair is crazy, and his piano is covered in paint, compared to Leo who is sitting next to an elegant looking piano. However, Ravi is the one portrayed in white while Leo remains in black showing that Ravi is the true self. For me, the piano scenes portray the performance his putting on with his outerself compared to what he feels inside. There are many other symbols in almost every scene. These are just some general observations and my interpretations :)

Favorite scene

My favorite scenes where the ones around the end where Leo and Ravi struggle and do an interpretative dance. That scene, I think, is the climax where the tensions between his two selves finally boils over and they have a head on conflict. The scene is raw, as they are fighting each other desperately, but it's also tender as Leo hugs Ravi while preventing him from going back to the girl.

Final thoughts

Sometimes in Kpop music videos, it can feel that the video, the lyrics, and the choreography are fighting each other for the listners' attetion but that's not the case in this MV. I love the synergy of all the elements. Everything from the lyrics to the video to the dance to the costume choice added to the meaning of the song. Although the song is about a guy letting a girl go, I feel like that the song is relatable even outside of the romantic context. We can all relate with the having different sides of ourselves or the contrast between our inner self and what we show others, and the struggle between doing the rational thing versus what our emotions dictate.

What was you guys' take on their song?

Okay... I watched this and HOLY CRUD. I cannot even PROCESS THIS M/V IN MY HEAD. It was such a beautiful tragedy. It was so well directed and we all know anything to do with VIXX when it comes to their music will be SPOT ON and this song did NOT DISAPPOINT. I was bawling at the end of it. Literally, their were tears running down my face within the first minute because of the anticipation, the song, the M/V, just....everything was just pure PERFECTION. (*^^*)♡ And I do want to applaud you for this amazing card. Thank you for taking the time out of your day for creating this!! :)
@StephanieDuong Yaaaasss. That was my reaction when I saw the MV too. It was ON POINT. And I'm glad you like the card :) It was made in a feels induced frenzy lol
I agree 100% with your interpretation. I actually thought about this stuff when I was watching it for the 10th+ time yesterday
