This news is pretty simple. After being pretty reluctant to reveal whats inside the Pumpkin Spice Latte for a long time, Starbucks has come out with an ingredients list as they change the formulation of their pumpkin spice syrup.
Ready for it? Here's the new ingredients list:
- Pumpkin Spice Flavored Sauce (Sugar, Condensed Skim Milk, Pumpkin Puree, Contains 2% or Less of Fruit and Vegetable Juice for Color, Natural Flavors, Annatto (Color), Potassium Sorbate (Preservative), Salt)
- Whipped Cream (Light Whipping Cream [Cream, Mono and Diglycerides, Carrageenan])
- Starbucks Vanilla Syrup (Sugar, Water, Natural Flavors, Potassium Sorbate (Preservative), Citric Acid)
- Pumpkin Spice Topping (Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg, Clove)
So what's changing?
When I was a barista at Starbucks, I can't tell you the number of times that people joked with me about how Pumpkin Spice Lattes "aren't even made of real pumpkin." Yes. I know. Trust me. I always cheekily retorted with something along the lines of "its a spice latte, as in, made of the spices associated with pumpkin flavors." I'm not very funny.
Anywho, Starbucks is taking out the caramel flavoring in the syrup and adding pumpkin puree in its place.
So....yay? It's finally a real "Pumpkin" Spice Latte?
Let's just hope it tastes the same, or else the PSL army will probably rebel.
