On Tuesday, Aug.18 in Columbus, Ohio, Liam Payne made a few questionably homophobic comments which offended his audience. At his One Direction concert while introducing song "Girl Almighty", Payne said, "This is my favorite song off the last album, and it is about trying to find that number one woman of your life, which none of you can relate to, ’cause most of you are girls. Except for the boys in here. You know what I’m talking about."
These comments have been claimed to be way too heteronormative and homophobic.
That night Twitter raged war against Payne calling him out for his comments. However he responded back saying that his comments were taken out of context and that he was in no way trying to offend people. However, the amount of tweets attacking Payne skyrocketed leading him into a Twitter rant trying to defend himself.
Here are the tweets.
He ended his rant with the tweet above. He not only apologized but made point to say that his fans should have not name called him in the ways they did. Many media organizations are either backing Payne saying he's not homophobic or saying that his comment were indeed homophobic and he needed to address them. You decide.
Do you think Liam Payne is homophobic?
