Lets be real, Calvin and Hobbes will forever be one of the greatest comics of all time. And whats amazing about them is they can be laugh out loud funny, yet very thought provoking to all ages. I mean really, my Dad's favorite Christmas gift last year was the complete collection of Calvin and Hobbes and he's 65.
But honestly when you have a comic that surpasses age, gender, and social standing, you know you have something special.

"I'm not in denial. I'm just very selective about the reality I accept."
I wish I had that line when I was younger so I could shut down all the jerks telling me Mermaids don't exist. Stick to what you believe in if you truly believe it and screw what anyone else says.

"If good things lasted forever, would we appreciate how precious they are?"
This is one of my favorite Hobbes quote because it reminds us that while good things are amazing, in order to appreciate them we need to go though some bad. It helps to remember this on a bad day, thats for sure.

"Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to love, and impossible to forget."
This doesn't really need any explanation except, find your true friends because they will change your attitude, your life, and ultimately you as a person.

"Nothing's happening."
"Try jumping."
This might seem like just a little funny comic joke, but really it can show that nothing is going to happen unless you take control and take the leap (even if it might seem like you will fall).

"I ask myself, "Do I even care?""
This is so great and always makes me laugh. Sometimes you gotta sit back, take a deep breath and figure out if what you are stressing over is really worth your time.

"It's funny how day by day, nothing changes. But when you look back everything is different."
Lets get super deep real quick. Life passes you by and you really will miss it if you don't pay attention, because everything is always changing and things can never to back to how they were.

"They say winning isn't everything, and I've decided to take their word for it."
Winning isn't everything and then again, winning also rocks. So just go with it and don't get worked up over losing because everyone does at some point. Welcome to life.

"There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want."
This is my all time favorite Calvin and Hobbes quote. All we ever complain about is how there is nothing to do and yet doing nothing is the most fun. There are always little things that bring you the most joy until something comes up and ruins your nothing.

"I'm significant...Screamed the dust speck."
This is very humbling and scary at the same time because no one wants to think of themselves as insignificant, and you aren't to the world, but its also nice to be self aware of your place in the universe. Get over the ego and it can be very freeing.

"Happiness isn't good enough for me! I demand euphoria."
We should all demand the very best for ourselves. Because if we don't, who will? Don't settle, Calvin never would.

"Life is like Topography, Hobbes. There are summits of happiness and success, flat stretches of boring routine and valleys of frustration and failure."
Have you ever heard a metaphor of life work so well and not sound the least bit cheesy? And it all came from a little boy and his tiger.

"Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us."
I appreciate this quote so much because firstly, thinking about other life is so scary and confusing and exciting; and secondly because humans need to stop thinking we are the most intelligent life out there. Because just believing we are the only intelligent life in the whole universe is stupid.

"Mom and Dad don't value hard work and originality as much as they say the do."
I mostly just wanted to throw in a snow man picture because Calvin and Hobbes build the best snowmen. But this quote got me. It seems these days originality is completely undervalued in our school system, no matter what they try to tell you. Which is total bullshit.
