I went to middle school in the last few years of the 90s, which was actually a huge time for pop music. Britney Spears released "Hit Me Baby (One More Time)". Not too long after was Christina Aguilera's "Genie In A Bottle". Most the girls in middle school were mostly split into N*Sync versus Backstreet Boys.
But not me. I was Team Hanson.
Ah, yes, Hanson - the group where everyone played instruments and wrote songs, but still got the most hate because they kind of looked like the Von Trapp Family Singers.

Haters gonna hate, but I LOVED Hanson.

My favorite song was called 'Weird'.

I remember Taylor Hanson said that he felt inspired to write this song because he realized he uses the word 'weird' a lot. I thought that was SUPER deep and that this video was SUPER trippy.

My favorite member? Isaac, duh.

One time during recess, my friend Emmaline pointed to her favorite Hanson (Taylor, of course) in a magazine. She then asked me who my favorite Hanson brother was. I had NO IDEA, but pointed to Isaac because I knew he was the least popular and I felt bad.
I know, I know. It was a pity vote. But I stayed a dedicated Isaac fan for the rest of my Hanson-obsessed years. (Besides, the guitarist is always the best!)

I saw them in concert at least 4 - 5 times.

I remember my first Hanson concert when I made my mom drive us to the mall in Paramus, NJ. It was a free show put on by the radio station in the food court and was overflowing with screaming girls. (I was definitely one of them.)

And my wall was COVERED in Hanson posters.

This girl isn't me, but may just as well have been. I would compulsively buy any magazines Hanson was featured in to tape clippings up on my wall. I referred to it as the 'Great Wall of Hanson', and when I moved to California in 1999, I put them all in a big scrapbook (which I still embarrassingly have in my bedroom closet to this day.)

I was homies with all the Hanson fan fiction girls.

My AOL friends would put theirs online, but I never dared - mostly because in my fan fiction, I'd write these horribly sad endings where someone randomly gets a terminal disease and dies. (It was like 'A Walk To Remember' before 'A Walk To Remember'. I was a dark kid.)
Anyway, we ended all our conversations as follows:

My obsession ended when I discovered pop-punk.

Because one does not simply listen to "MMMBop" on the way to the Warped Tour. In the words of (my next favorite band) Blink-182, "Well, I guess this is growing up."
Sooooo... that's Hanson for you. I know I'm probably not the only Vingler that was obsessed with Hanson in the 90s, so if there's fellow Hanson fans out there, COMMENT BELOW!
so true. I was very much in love with all of them, but yes, Issac was the one we mostly fought over. But my Hanson infatuation slowly burned out when I discovered Blink 182, 3 Doors Down, Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit etc. . .
Hanson is still around. I still love them.
@candykiev Yessss I love that you loved Isaac too. I feel like all the other girls like Taylor but he was kinda basic.
I only ever heard one song of theirs, they were talented at such a young age. :)
I always thought Taylor was the most handsome. I still do, for the most part. But have you seen Zach lately? He is so fine~
