Well, I've heard of 'puppy love', but this takes things to a whole new level!
Meet Dominque Lesbirel, a 41-year-old Dutch woman who married her cat and says she will wed her dog now that her 'cat husband' died.
Doerack, pictured with Dominique in the photo above, recently died after suffering from a steadily advancing case of kidney disease.
"Putting Doerack to sleep was horrible, I’ve had him since he was three, but I feel lucky to have had 16 lovely years with him."
Dominique has decided that she will marry her dog, Travis, once she has finishing grieving Doerack's loss, citing that he "stole her heart".
“We all need that unconditional love, but it can be hard to find with a person, especially when everyone withdraws from behind their phone or laptop screens. So why not look to a pet instead?”
Dominique also prides herself as the founder of MarryYourPet.com, an online wedding chapel that has been performing similar pet-owner marriage services to people around the world since 2003.
“There are rules, as with any marriage. The difference between a church ceremony and my online chapel is that I don’t allow divorce. I don’t want to let anyone abandon their pet.”
Sounds like a serious commitment. But I can't help but wonder - will they celebrate anniversaries by dog years?
