I Remember You EP 1: KYUNGSOO IS GREAT, SEO IN GUK IS A PSYCHO
Sooooo THIS IS EVERYTHING I WANTED AND MORE.
I did a basic summary and minimal fangirling cause I'm trying to keep it, you know, "professional" but on the real I'm flipping out. My next posts will probably get worse and worse as I crumble into fan girl madness.

OBVIOUSLY SPOILER ALERT!

HERE WE GO:

First 5 Minutes:

We find out there there is some kind of serial killer strangling young girls all over Seoul and leaving pretty much no trace behind to track him. This is so deliciously CSI-like that I can feel my 17-year-old CSI-obsessed self getting giddy.
Jung Nara's character (Cha Ji-an) is a gorgeous, tiny, but serious detective and doesn't seem super pleased have Mr. Cool/Lee Hyun (Seo In Guk) come on into her crime scene without notice (alright so he's the new boss but still!) buuuuut then she goes all googley eyed and there's that twinkling music in the background telling us there will be romance soon.
Knowing K-dramas, that will probs be 14 episodes later -____-

BUT THEN OOPS

Lee Hyun isn't actually the leader of the team, it's Kang Eun-hyuk who arrives to the scene to confuse the hell out of everyone and *poof* my boy Lee Hyun disappears and then waltzes away from the crime scene with that perfect Seo In Guk smirk on his face.

PLUS we get a super awkward lovey-dovey scene within the first 8 minutes! Woo!

Back in 1996:

We're taken back to 1996 to see Lee Hyun's childhood cause it's clear that the whole mystery has something to do with his troubled past. He may or may not have tortured and killed dogs as a child...He has to do everything for his dad cause his father's a totally space case. He's this tiny kid but he cares for his little brother, pays the bills, and manages his dad's schedule.
THEN MY BABY KYUNGSOO ARRIVES
Lee Hyun's dad works in a mental institution/prison where Kyungsoo's character, Lee Joon-young, is being kept. The first thing we see from him is he ties up a police officer for not opening a window for him cause my precious snowflake is sensitive to smells. LET MY BABY BREATHE.

Both the prisoner and the child ask the same question:

"Why do people hurt others? But then again, why shouldn't people hurt others?"
Eventually, baby Lee Hyun and Joon-young get the chance to chat.
Lee Joon-young to Lee Hyun:
"I'm curious as to what kind of adult you're going to become. I want to see. Let's meet again, as promised."
Lee Joon-young believes that what parents think of their children is what they will become in the future. If you say a baby is stupid the baby will grow up stupid, if you say a child is a monster.....

Last 5 Minutes:

Joon-young wanted to convince the father that his son is crazy in order to get him to treat his son like a killer.
Lee Hyun's dad gets pissed that the prisoner and his son talked, Joon-young says that Lee Hyun will become a "monster like him," then Lee Hyun's dad beats up Joon-young.
The seeds of doubt Joonyoung planted must have worked because when the father returns home we see this:

"My son is a monster" - Joong-min's diary

The episode ends with Joong-min taking Lee Hyun out of school, sitting him down, and tell him that he is not normal. Hyun flashes back to what Joon-young told him and is now sure that he will grow up to be a monster.

Characters We Meet:

Cha Ji-an - Female detective
Lee Hyun - Detective and basically just a big mystery (Seo In Guk)
Son Myung-woo, Min Seung-joo, & Choi Eun-bok - Members of the detective team
Kang Eun-hyuk - New leader of the detective team

Lee Joon-young - Murderer that escaped from prison (in this episode he's still in prison)
Lee Joong-min - Lee Hyun's dad

What We Learn:

LEE HYUN IS A TEASE
As Ji-an is chasing him on the street he tells the taxi driver to speed up and slow down just to toy with her. And when he needs to he can get out of a taxi damn fast. Also, he probably isn't the serial killer, but I don't believe anything until it's the last episode.
JI-AN IS THE ULTIMATE FAN GIRL
Basically she crushed hard on Lee Hyun as a kid and has stalked him ever since. Once she finally got him close, she hand cuffed him immediately. After he was allowed to go free, she chased him down in an elevator. You go girl.
THE KILLER IS A TEASE TOO
He placed old pictures that Lee Hyun drew as a child in the crime scenes...how creepy is that?!
LEE HYUN IS ALSO SORT OF A GENIUS
He saw scribbles and found out they were coordinates and then found the crime scene before the detectives even got there?! He's pretty much Sherlock Holmes. Plus as a kid he could do insane calculations in his head.
JOON-YOUNG SABOTAGED LEE HYUN
Joon-young made Lee Hyun's father think that his son is a psycho. Then he tells Lee Hyun that he will become whatever his parents think he is. Thus, Lee Hyun is prepared to grow up to be a cold blooded killer....and Joon-young will be there to find him.

(fangirl moment)

Wtf this is so much like CSI, I LOVE it. Kyungsoo's acting is incredible I felt like crying and squealing and proud-momming cause he's just fantastic.
The Seo In Guk smirk needs to go away and I can tell that I'm not going to be able to deal with this drama. I'm going to try to limit myself to 3 episodes a week but.........

DOES IT GET BETTER OR WAS THIS JUST A REALLY AWESOME FIRST EPISODE?

BWAAHAAAHAAA!!! @kpopandkimchi 3 episodes per week!!! Best of luck with that!!! As for coming episodes, u just have to wait and watch.
@kpopandkimchi ok ok. But you have to finish it! Even tho Kyungsoo isn't in there much there is one person you should watch it for. PARK.BO.GUM! (He's Seo In Guk's brother in the drama)
I watched it while it was still running...it gets better, oh so better. I can't say to much but yeah it was really good, a proper psychological thriller 馃榾
I very easily drop dramas right in the middle if the plot gets too drama-for-the-sake-of-drama and everything just gets really out of hand, and I think this drama has everything down BEYOND perfect. it's one of my favorite dramas, and considering the fact that I don't really even finish dramas I start, that's hella an accomplishment. so yes. This drama freaking Only Gets BETTER.
