Blood oranges are so amazingly refreshing.
It's a shame that not too many people are familiar, but that's where I come in and get you familiar. If you're like myself and you're not a fan of alcohol, but you enjoy the idea of sippin' a cute drink -- no worries. Whoever said you can't enjoy a drink because it doesn't contain alcoholic obviously had never tried a frozen blood orange no-rita.
If you happen to be wondering what a no-rita is -- it's simply a non alcoholic margarita. The summer is wrapping up, but frozen drinks are forever. For those who prefer their drink on the rocks skip the blending process and drink over ice. The choice is solely up to you. With that being said, grab your ingredients and a blender and get your sip on minus the buzz -- and unwarranted hangover the following day with this refreshing, tasty drink.
1/2 cup blood orange juice
2 tablespoons lemon juice (1 lemon)
1 tablespoon of simple syrup
frozen orange juice
3 cups ice
4 lime wedges or cherry for garnish
coarse salt or coarse sugar for rim
1. Coat rims of margarita glasses with lime wedge; dip rims into a shallow dish of coarse salt or sugar and shake off excess. Set aside.
2. Combine ingredients in blender with ice cubes. Blend until smooth. Add simple syrup for a bit of sweetness and continue blending until you gain your desired consistency. Pour into glasses. Garnish with lime wedge or cherry.
