Fab Friday Find: Hand Painted Cake!

Okay, everyone, just stop, right now!

Hand painted cake.

I'm done.

I'm not even in a position to gag over this because by body is shaking, chills are running down my spine and my heart is in suspended motion. Let me first, catch my breath, press pause, have a moment, say a prayer, and then I can gag gag gag gag....
I don't really know where to begin. Designed by Cake Inc, in Australia (big surprise there since Down Under keeps pumping out more and more talent!) Let's see what is giving me life about this masterpiece:
Tiers. You know I live for my two and three-tier wedding cakes.
Gold and beaded scallops. Gold. Saw it first. Loved it. Those delicate beads in the tips...I'm done!
Pink. And not your everyday pink either. It's that perfect Golden Girls kind of pink hue that I love.
White. Did you not see that top tier in white rolled fondant? Scroll up and look again. Again!
Hand painted. Birds. On branches. With flowers. One's perched. Another's landing. Breathe....
I just want to challenge ALL THE MILLIONS OF VINGLERS OUT THERE to find me a cake better than this. Hashtag Ibetchacant.

White Velvet Layer Cake with Strawberry-Raspberry Buttercream
Ingredients For the Cake 2½ cups (280 grams) sifted White Lily® Self-Rising Flour 2 cups (400 grams) granulated sugar ½ cup (1 stick/113 grams) unsalted butter, at room temperature ¼ cup (48 grams) organic palm shortening ¼ cup (56 grams) organic almond oil, or favorite vegetable oil 1 cup (240 ml) organic buttermilk, at room temperature ¾ cup (180 grams) egg whites (about 6), at room temperature 2 teaspoons (10 ml) pure almond extract 1 teaspoon (5 ml) pure vanilla extract All-purpose flour and shortening or vegetable oil to prepare cake pans For the Frosting 2 cups (4 sticks/452 grams) unsalted butter, softened ½ 8-ounce container (113 grams) chilled fine-quality mascarpone cheese 6 tablespoons (113 grams) Strawberry-Raspberry Sauce (recipe below) 2 teaspoons (10 ml) pure vanilla extract 4 to 4½ cups (480 to 540 grams) confectioners’ sugar Natural pink food coloring For the Cake Adornments Fresh red raspberries and/or strawberries, optional Special Equipment Three 8-inch by 1½- to 2-inch round cake pans Four wire cooling racks, with the fourth being used to flip cake layers right side up Cake Preparation Arrange oven rack in lower third of oven and preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease three 8-inch round cake pans with shortening or oil. Line bottoms with parchment or wax paper circles. Grease paper linings and dust lined pans with flour, tapping out the excess. Set aside. Using an electric stand mixer fitted with paddle attachment, mix self-rising flour and suga on low speed (stir) until well combined and aerated, about 1 minute. Add butter, shortening and oil and mix on slow speed until thoroughly combined. Mixture will be very thick. In a 2-cup glass liquid measuring cup, whisk together buttermilk, egg whites and extracts using a fork until well blended. Slowly add half of the liquid mixture to the batter and mix on low speed. Increase mixer speed to medium and beat until thoroughly combined, scraping down the sides of bowl as necessary with rubber spatula, about 2 minutes. Add remaining liquid mixture and beat just until smooth and thoroughly combined, again scraping down the sides of bowl as necessary, about 1 minute. Using rubber spatula, scrape and pour batter into prepared pans dividing evenly (a little over 2 cups of batter per cake pan). Smooth tops evenly with rubber spatula and then rap each pan on counter surface 2 to 3 times to expel any air bubbles. This step will create a nice level cake.Bake in preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into center comes out clean, about 25 to 30 minutes. (I have found that 28 minutes is perfect.) Cool cakes in pans on wire racks for 10 minutes. Run thin metal spatula around edges of each cake to loosen, then invert onto wire rack and peel away parchment or wax paper. Turn right side up onto wire racks (using an additional rack to flip) and cool completely or wrap while still warm to retain moisture. Wrap each cake layer tightly in plastic food wrap and keep at room temperature until ready to fill and frost. To frost and fill cake, use a scant ¾ cup frosting between each layer and then proceed to frost the cake as desired with remaining buttercream. Icing Preparation Using an electric stand mixer fitted with paddle attachment, or handheld mixer and large bowl, beat butter on medium speed until creamy. Add mascarpone cheese, Strawberry-Raspberry Sauce and vanilla, if desired; beat until fully incorporated. Gradually increase mixer speed to high and continue beating until light and fluffy, scraping down the sides of bowl as necessary with rubber spatula. Gradually add confectioners’ sugar, beating on low speed (stir), until well combined. Beat on high speed until well combined and smooth while scraping down sides of bowl as necessary, about 2 minutes. If desired, tint buttercream with pink food coloring. Strawberry-Raspberry Sauce Ingredients 8 ounces (227 grams) hulled fresh strawberries, about 1½ cups quartered 8 ounces (227 grams) fresh red raspberries, about 1½ generous cups ½ cup (100 grams) organic granulated cane sugar 1 teaspoon (5 ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice Preparation Sort, rinse and dry berries before measuring and using in recipe. Using a food processor, purée the berries. Press berry purée through a fine mesh sieve into medium saucepan; discard the seeds. Stir in sugar and lemon juice. Bring fruit pulp and juices to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring frequently, for 5 minutes while skimming foam from sides of saucepan using a slotted spoon. Once the foam has been skimmed, reduce heat to medium-low and continue to cook stirring frequently until bright in color, thickened and reduced by half, about 10 minutes. When done, there should be ¾ cup of sauce or about 225 grams. Set sauce aside to cool completely before using.
Faking It On Valentine's Day
Here's a really cool idea for Valentine's Day: FAKE IT! For real! Guys can be either really lazy about V-Day or over-think it and determine to learn new skills, such as cooking, on one of the biggest hyped calendar dates in the year, February 14th. That's probably not the best approach to making the date night more than being memorable for being bad. Instead of trying to bake a cake or cookies, or dare yourself into making fudge, you could avoid a messy crisis and make your own Chocolate Dipped Strawberries. TRUST ME, IT'S EASY! You Will Need: Strawberries (washed and thoroughly dried) Candy Melts (pink and white) Chocolate chips (semi-sweet is best) Edible gold Edible glitter Edible embellishments (there's time to order from Amazon) Directions Melt the Candy Melts and chocolate (according to the package) in their own container/bowl. Dip strawberries into desired bowl and set aside. Drizzle a different color "melt" onto the dipped strawberries. Also, redip the strawberries in another "melt" at the tip and immediately dredge in edible glitter. Set these in a tray in the fridge and take out to de-chill a few moments before eating. These are fruity, gently sweetened with the chocolate and melts, and will look AMAZING with the edible embellishments! How-To: Boho Braided Half Crown
The Beauty Department just published this super cute hair tutorial that I had to share with my gals and my brides on Vingle! As you can see, it's super easy and straight forward in the instructions. Try this out and let me know what you think! 1. Wave hair. 2. Gather and section off the top half of your hair (temple to temple) 3. Roll and clip this section up and away. 4. Next section off one inch sections on your right and left side from your hairline, near your temple (this is the area slightly above your ear). Braid this section vertically down. 5. Backcomb the braid instead of tying it off. Repeat on both sides. 6. Bring braids forward towards the face and unclip the top section of hair (step 3). Allow this section to fall and blend with the bottom half of your hair. 7. Take both braids from each side. 8. Bring these braids to the middle back of your head, cross them over each other. 9. Using a bobby pin that blends with your hair color, fasten both braids. 10. Now make one inch sections below your first set of braids on each side. Repeat the first set of braids we did (Follow steps 4 and 5 ). Make sure the braid is directly under your last braids. 11. Once both sides are braided bring hair around to the middle back of your head and cross them over each other. 12. Using a bobby pin that blends with your hair color, fasten both braids. 13. Once everything is fastened adjust your curls on the bottom half and style using a texture spray. 14. Finish off waves and look with a weightless protectant. 15. Make any further styling adjustments to your look. and Enjoy an easy DIY half up boho braided up-do. Photo & Post by Carachele Tyvan

White Chocolate Caramel Cheesecake
Caramel Sauce: 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar 1 3/4 teaspoons lemon juice 1 pint heavy cream 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Before I get into making the sauce, let me note that this isn't the easiest way for most home cooks to go about making caramel sauce. Melting almost pure sugar in a pan is pesky and it can burn quite easily. If you're not feeling up to attempting this part of the recipe, feel free to buy your favorite caramel sauce and warm it gently to glaze the cheesecake. In a medium sauce pan over medium high heat (I'm using non-stick for this), combine the sugar and lemon juice. Stir with a wooden spoon until the sugar is mostly melted then set aside the spoon and swirl the pan over the heat to keep the color even throughout. Continue to cook and swirl until it sugar turns a medium amber color. Watch it carefully, the sugar will quickly darken and should it become dark brown or black it will taste bitter and unpleasant. When the sauce turns the right color slowly whisk in the cream. If the caramel hardens with the addition of the cream, do not worry. Just continue to add the cream and bring the mixture back to a a boil over medium heat. Continue to stir until the sugar has remelted. Allow to boil for 5 minutes then remove from heat and stir in the butter. Pour into a heat safe container and chill until ready to use. Crust: 10 ounces graham crackers, crushed into crumbs 7 tablespoons unsalted butter Cheesecake Filling: 3 8-ounce packages of cream cheese, room temperature 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar 1/2 cup heavy cream 8 ounces good quality white chocolate, chopped 5 large eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract pinch salt boiling water Pre-heat the oven to 375°F. Combine the graham cracker crumbs with the melted butter and press into the bottom and 1 1/2 inches up the side of a 10 inch spring form pan. Bake for 10 minutes and then allow to cool completely on a wire rack. Reduce the heat to 325°F and prepare the cheesecake batter. Place the chopped white chocolate into a heat safe bowl and set aside. Bring the 1/2 cup of cream to a simmer over medium heat in a small sauce pan. Pour the hot cream over the white chocolate, jiggle the bowl to submerge it and allow to stand for one minute. Stir the chocolate gently until melted completely. In your mixer with the paddle attachment, beat the cream cheese until smooth and lump free. Add the sugar and mix, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. On medium speed, slowly add the white chocolate ganache. Once combined you can add the eggs, one at a time, beating on low speed until each egg is incorporated. Once you've added all the eggs, mix in the vanilla and salt and pour into your prepared pan. Set the pan onto a couple large sheets of aluminum foil and smooth them up the sides of the pan to waterproof. Set the cheesecake into a large roasting pan and then place in the oven. Pour the boiling water into the roasting pan, filling to about one inch (no higher than the lowest edge of aluminum foil). Allow to make at 325°F for one hour then reduce heat and bake at 300°F for an additional 60-90 minutes until the center is just set. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely on a wire rack. Once cool chill for at least 4 hours before serving. To glaze, gently warm the 1 cup of the caramel sauce on the stove or in the microwave until slightly runny and then pour onto the cheesecake. Smooth the caramel over the cake and you're ready to serve. Enjoy.
Pikachu Buns
I was in a baking mood and decided to try to make these! They came out good for my first time 😁😁 I'll post my recipes below if you'd like to try and make them. If you'd like the recipe, message me 😘 My bun recipe: -200g milk (Lukewarm) -5g active dry yeast -30g sugar --240g bread flour -60g all purpose flour -30g butter (room temp) -Egg wash Step 1: put lukewarm milk, sugar and yeast in a bowl. Whisk and set aside for 5min Step 2: in a separate bowl, combine bread flour and all purpose flour. Then add milk mixture. Add a pinch of salt and knead dough Step 3: after dough can take ball form, knead in the room temp butter. Knead until butter is fully incorporated. After incorporated, put in a lightly greased bowl cover with plastic wrap and set aside in a warm place for 30-40 min. Step 4: after 30-40 mins, take dough out. It should have doubled in size. Put flour on your finger and poke the middle of the dough. If it first bounce back, declare the air from dough and cut in 8 equal pieces. Form in to balls and set aside on a baking sheet for 10-15 mins. Make sure to cover with a lightly dampened cloth. Step 5: cut two areas on the doughball across from each other in a diagonal direction. Egg was the parts you cut in to. Sprinkle with sugar cover them again with a lightly dampened cloth and let them rest for 30 mins - an hour. They will double in size again Step 6: bake in an oven preheated to 400° for 10-12 mins and you're done! Chocolate pudding filling: -2 egg yolks -2 1/2 tbsp sugar -1 tbsp all purpose flour -1 1/2 tbsp corn starch -1 tbsp coco powder -200ml milk (hot) -2 tbsp butter -30g chocolate. I used four squares of semi sweet chocolate Step 1: whisk egg yolks and sugar together. In separate bowl, combine flour, corn starch and coco powder. Add mixture to yolk mixture and whisk together. Step 2: slowly add hot milk to the chocolate yolk mixture. When fully combined. Put yolk mixture through a strainer into a pot. Out put on burner and set to medium heat. Continuously whisk until mixture thickens to pudding consistency. Step 3: take off heat immediately and add butter and chocolate. Continue mixing until chocolate and butter mix in. Step 4: place plastic wrap directly on pudding and put in fridge to cool. After it cools, mix it again and add to piping bag.
