Cocktail Emojis Turned Into Real Life Drinks – They're Perfect!
An enterprising NYC bartender has figured out yet another reason why emojis are the best thing ever: now, you can drink them.
Even if it's not quiiite as simple as tapping a button on your phone and finding a drink instantly appear in your hand (oh, how I wish it were), there's no doubt that sipping on these emoji-inspired cocktails will bring you a weird kind of satisfaction.
Matthew Houlihan created all these recipes (and gave them creative names!) for Cachaça 51, a brand of Brazilian sugar cane spirit. My unauthorized advice, if you don't have any cachaça on hand, is to substitute a good white rum. :)
Get ready to taste the real life equivalents of 🍹tropical drink, 🍸cocktail glass, and 🍧shaved ice emojis!

Bright blue straw
Take a chilled hurricane glass and pour in the grenadine, then fill with crushed ice. Mix together cachaça, OJ, and passion fruit juice, then pour into glass. Garnish with a wedge of lime and that classic blue straw.
The Yellow Lily

Perfectly shaped olive with wooden toothpick
Stir together all ingredients with ice until cold, then strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with an olive on a toothpick. So classy!
The Bitter Coat
AKA: shaved ice 🍧
2 ounces cachaça
3/4 ounce lemon juice
1/2 ounce simple syrup
1/2 ounce Aperol
Bright blue plastic spoon
Mix together cachaça, lemon and simple syrup, and pour into a white goblet. Add a heaping scoop of crushed ice. Pour Aperol on top for the pink coloring. Tuck in the blue plastic spoon and enjoy!
I have to say, these are pretty spot-on, aren't they? I'd like to try them, even just for the novelty. And then I can pose like my favorite emoji, the information desk woman! 💁
Would you try them? Or is it too much like living inside a giant iPhone?
