Justin Bieber’s new pop single, “What Do You Mean”, has gained the title of the Fastest Single to Reach #1 on iTunes following its highly anticipated release. In mere seconds, the single soared to the top of the iTunes charts after its global release at 7:00 a.m. (ET) on Aug. 28, 2015. The single quickly began to play on iHeart radio’s 800+ American stations every hour. A lyric video of the song also was released on YouTube featuring professional skater Ryan Sheckler, which has now garnered over 13.8 million views. This is Bieber’s first taste of his upcoming fourth studio album to be released on November 13 for RBMG/ JAM RECORDINGS.
“What Do You Mean” is unsurprisingly successful following Bieber’s strong social media countdown for the single. For the past 30 days, Bieber has posted photos of fellow celebrities holding white pieces of paper with the words “What Do You Mean” and the amount of days until the single was to be released. Celebrities such as Kendall Jenner, Ellen DeGenerous, Mark Walberg, Usher, and Ed Sheeran are just a few of the many A-list celebrities who promoted his new single on social media. With Instagram and Twitter combined, the hype surrounding the single collected over 100 million impressions and is still growing.
“It’s been an amazing journey to write, record and deliver this record to my fans,” said Justin. “I’m so glad people have participated in it, and I hope they are receptive to it and love it as much as I do. This is only the first step in the journey for me. This album is so personal to me, there’s so much of my heart and soul in it, and I can’t wait to bring my fans along for the ride.”
Even with the successful release of the single, Bieber is not finished promoting the song. “What Do You Mean” will have its first live performance at the 32nd annual MTV Video Music Awards. Following on Wednesday night, Bieber will appear on NBC’s Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. He will also appear on The Today Show starting Monday, September 7th, where he will have two additional live performances on Thursday and Friday, September 10-11th.
You currently cannot pre-order the complete album on iTunes. However, fans can pre-order the album, signed CDs, vinyl, and other limited edition items, exclusively via Bieber’s online store. The Link:
