Feeling a little queasy? Contrary to popular belief, when your stomach is feeling unsettled, it's actually better to have something in it. You might not feel like eating, but proper nutrition is vital to regaining your health and fighting off any illness.
Here are a few foods that are good for combatting feelings of nausea.
The fiber can help clear nausea-causing chemicals out of your system. Try applesauce or apple juice if you're not yet ready for solid food.
Starchy foods like crackers, bread, and toast all help soak up excess stomach acid, which may be the cause of your queasy stomach.
Try powdered ginger in a capsule, ginger ale, a few gingersnap cookies, or a piece of ginger candy.
Small sips of water will keep you hydrated in case of vomiting.
Nausea can worsen if you don't have enough protein in your system. Snack on a handful of nuts or a scoop of peanut butter.
Low-Fat Chicken Broth
It'll keep you hydrated and nourished, without being as heavy as chicken soup.
The electrolytes will help replenish hydration in the case of vomiting, and help combat queasiness.
Especially after you've been vomiting, bananas are a great choice. It will replace depleted potassium.
This one's my personal favorite. Mint-infused water or mint tea is a classic nausea remedy, and the smell alone is refreshing and soothing.
