A Lucille Ball biopic has been announced recently and I could not be any happier about it simply because of the names that are attached to the film. Aaron Sorkin is set to write the script and Cate Blanchett will be playing Ball.
I'm actually really excited about this news because I'm a fan of both Sorkin and Blanchett's body of work. And usually, any time Sorkin's name is attached to a biopic, I know that the chances of the film's success skyrocket exponentially. And that's partly because his success with The Social Network and the other part has to do with another film he penned that's based on Steve Jobs.
Sorkin definitely has a knack for crafting stories that surround a real person and their life. And I definitely have full confidence in Blanchett as an actress to take on this role and perform at a level we haven't seen from her as of yet.
The film is being produced by Ball's children, Lucy and Desi Arnaz Jr., and it's said that the film will cover Lucy and Desi's (the parents) twenty-year marriage. I think it'll be an interesting look into the life of one of TV's most beloved female stars and it'll help reintroduce her to younger audiences.
