DIY paper flowers
Have any old books lying around that you don't want anymore but don't know what to do with them? Well, look no further! This tutorial is great for upcycling pages of your old books. This DIY project comes from 100 Layer Cake.

Materials

For this project, you will need some pages from a book, cream or white ribbon, wire, hot-glue gun, hot-glue sticks (low temp), scissors and wire cutters. You can find all of these materials (except for the book pages) at a craft store.

Cut the pages

Cut the book pages into petal shapes. You want to make five different sizes, starting from small to big. Once you have cut five pieces of each size, roll the ends inward, as the picture shows.

Make the flowers

Take one of the smallest pieces of book pages and roll it into a tube. Dab a bit of hot glue on the end of the tube and stick the wire through the hole. Let the glue dry. Then, use the hot-glue gun to attache the petals in order of ascending size, as shown in the pictures. Once you have made the flower to the desired size, take a small piece of ribbon and glue it to the bottom of the flower (wrapped around the wire) to give your flower a finished look.
Repeat these steps to make more paper flowers.

Add color

If you want to make your paper flowers pop a little bit more, take a colored permanent marker and run the tip around the edges of the petals to add some color.

What a great craft for transforming your old books!
