Come On Caitlyn Jenner, You Should Know Better Then That.
Ellen Degeneras recently had Caitlyn Jenner, the newest LGBTQ+ superstar on her show. While Caitlyn certainly is new to the transgendered world and is trying her best to make a huge difference in the way the LGBTQ+ community and transpeople as a whole are treated, some of her beliefs are still very confusing. Like still affiliating herself with the Republican Party, a party who is more intolerant then tolerant to love and lifestyles that don't conform to their cookie cutter norm. Which is why it is unfortunately unsurprising that Caitlyn's response on marriage equality honestly leaves a lot to be desired. Check out her response in the video below!
Like, what the fuck Caitlyn Jenner?
I understand, transitioning from a once very conservative male takes time and a lot of change, both mentally and physically. Caitlyn Jenner grew up in an era that was even less accepting of the gay community as well as living in a very conservative household. Traditions and beliefs that are ground into your childhood brain are hard to ignore.

However, equality in marriage really should be a no brainer.

But here is where the problem actually begins. Caitlyn told Ellen that:

‘I don’t ever want to stand in front of anybody’s happiness.’ That’s not my job, okay? If that word – ‘marriage’ – is really, really that important to you, I can go with it."

Hate to break it to you Caitlyn, but it is marriage equality is your fucking job. Marriage is way more then a word. Marriage equality represents the government viewing two peoples love as legitimate, as equal, and as worthy of respect, rights, and the damn word of marriage! It is basic human rights! As the first EVER transgendered to have an entire show broadcasted to the world to show the trials and triumph of transitioning to the world IT IS YOUR JOB TO CARE. As a winner of the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage, which is one of the most prestigious awards in sports, not just for her athletic achievements, but for your very public struggle to come out as transgender IT IS YOUR JOB TO STAND UP FOR YOUR COMMUNITY!

And has the most talked about transperson ever, it is your fucking job to make sure the right message is being broadcasted.

So please Caitlyn, for the sake of the LGBTQ+ community everywhere educate yourself. You are starting a completely new life and it is hard, and it is scary and we get that you will mess up sometimes. So take some time away from your TV show if you have too, speak to more trans people who have struggled their entire lives, take a class if you have too, because if you continue to spew bullshit that is "traditionalist" and borderline intolerant of the community you are suppose to be representing, you will single handedly take the world back generations every hour your show airs.

I agree. I think she needs to use her spotlight and star power to speak to these issues in the public forum she has been presented with. she is uniquely able to speak openly and publicly about her transition and the issues that have arisen because of it. she needs to use this power for good, to make social change happen.

wow. so interesting to see someone who has become and icon for equally totally miss the freaking point! I’m with @InPlainSight here... how she needs to realize her power and use it for good.

just like everyone else, she is doing what makes her happy. if those are her views, let her believe them! oh and whoever wrote this, marriage is not apart of our rights btw. educate yourself. all of you are being so hypocryitical wanting for people to accept who you love and what gender you believe you are suppose to be. she is accepting all of you. she is saying to love and be whoever/whatever makes you happy. if marriage makes you happy, DO IT. you are all on the same side, quit fighting about the tint of the clouds.

You have a good point, @MelissaDwinell though! I think it’s awesome that although she is conservative and maybe isn’t fully on board, she is still accepting of gay marriage. I think that @LizArnone is just trying to say that Caitlin is sort’ve like a role model for gay and transgender rights, and for her to come out and say that she excepts it, but doesn’t know how she completely feels about it is a little shocking.
