Will was a successful rapper in the late 80's but he didn't spend his money wisely. Owing over $2.8 million dollars to the federal government, Smith was on the verge of bankruptcy when television executives at NBC approached him about a starring in a television show.
Smith agreed and The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air was born.
The show was a huge success for NBC garnering strong ratings over six seasons on the network.
More importantly the show made Smith a household name across the U.S. The television show helped Smith balance his career. Will showed the world that he could do more than rap, as he was an amazing actor as well.
