Friday Favorites: Weekly Beauty And Fashion Finds

It's been a few weeks since I shared with everyone some of my beauty faves. I've decided to switch things up and start combining both my beauty faves and fashion faves together [talk about exciting]. September has been an amazing month so far, as far as purchases. I haven't spent too much, but I've spent just enough. The fall is approaching and I've made sure that the items I have been purchasing can easily transition into the upcoming season. I'm super excited to share my goodies with you guys, so let's get to it. Without further ado, I introduce to you -- this weeks beauty and fashion faves [as seen below].

Limbo - ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip

Talk about the perfect shade for fall. I had heard a lot about this cosmetic line, but it took me awhile to give in and purchase a few things. I mean who can resist $5 matte lippies? And let me just say, that they are so worth it. The great thing about these matte liquid lip colors is that they are highly pigmented, quick to dry and they last all day [literally].

Forever 21 - Olive Midi Skirt

Although the image above is not my actual skirt, it is similar. I have been looking for the perfect midi skirt in the perfect color. I cannot wait to dress it up and dress it down with flannel around the waist and my pointed toe booties.

Topshop - Midnight Leather Zip-Back Boot

So I couldn't resist a pair of pointy black chelsea boots for the fall. I needed something to hold me over until I willingly invest in my must have Acne Jensen boots [see card here]. I picked up these babies from Nordstrom and immediately fell in love. I have never worn a boot that is more comfortable. I have yet to spend a day out walking in them, but I have no doubt that they won't keep my feet smiling throughout the day. Not only are they comfortable, but they are super stylish as well.

Midi - ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip

Of course, that wasn't the only lippie I had to get my hands on. I also purchased this nude beauty in the shade Midi. You definitely need to line your lip before applying, but it's the perfect shade. If you haven't invested in ColourPop, you should definitely look into that.

eBay - Black Strappy Plush Knit Bralette

I have been on a bralette frenzy ever since I fell in love with Urban Outfitters lace bralettes [seen here]. I love the idea of pairing a bralette under a sweater or a flannel shirt in the fall, so on a whim I purchased this beauty. I haven't worn it just yet, but I am itching to do so. Because I happen to be frugal I ordered mine from eBay and actually didn't spend much at all. The shipping was also a breeze.

Ladies, let me know what some of your weekly faves are.

You can pick what you like and alter it to fit your style and your body type. This card will feature women and men Korean fashion trends. None of these images or videos belong to KpopINT Writer Jessamine aka Social Media Event Organizer/Planner aka @amobigbang Many of the things she tries on fit what's hot right now in Korean fashion. You need your stripped shirt, pastel colored blouses, ripped jeans, and something with ruffles. Would you rock any of these? I love this outfits especially the leather jacket. DIY Missoni Chevron Shoes
Step 1: Gather supplies. One pair of white canvas sneakers Ruler Manila file folder or other stiff paper Pencil Scissors Fabric markers in various colors (ones with both a thick and thin tip are best) Step 2: Using the ruler, draw a straight line near the edge of the manila file folder. Step 3: Draw a second line a half-inch down from the first one. Use the ruler to make tick marks at every half-inch interval on both lines. Step 4: Next, create a zig-zag pattern inside the two parallel lines by connecting every other tic. For example, start at the bottom left-hand corner of the lower line, and connect to the second tic mark on the upper line. Connect the second tic-mark on the upper line to the third tic mark on the lower line, and so on. Step 5: Now that you've just created all of those triangles, cut away the lower row of them (sorry!). You should be left with what looks like a row of teeth at the bottom of the folder. Feel free to use this template to create a shark or bear costume for Halloween. Step 6: Okay, now take out your plain canvas shoes and remove the laces—you don't want to color over them, nor do you want to try to color around them. Step 7: Position the template onto the toe of the sneaker. You'll be working your way from the front to the back of the shoe. Position the template wherever you like it best, but we felt it was easiest to keep things lined up by having the point of one triangle in the center of the shoe. Step 8: Move the template back and trace another row of triangles, making sure all of the points more or less match up with the previous rows. To get a true Missoni look, vary the spacing of the template—there's no right and wrong with this, so feel free to have lots of thin rows and then one giant row, followed by a medium and small row, and so on. Step 9: Okay, now it's time for the fun part! Grab your fabric markers and start coloring in the rows, making sure that each row is a different color. The colors don't have to be spaced evenly or in any sort of pattern (but go for it if you want!), so feel free to switch it up as much as you'd like. If your markers have differently sized tips, use the thin edge to outline the rows, and the thick to fill them in. Step 10: To make your kicks look extra-polished, make sure you color the inside rim of the sneaker! You've come all this way, so don't skimp out on this step. Step 11: Now, it's time to color the tongue of the sneaker. This part can be a little awkward since it's hard to get a good angle, but don't worry, since you only see a little bit of the tongue, you don't have to be too accurate. Just do your best and color the parts you can see, trying to match the colors and patterns from either side of the shoe. Step 12: All that's left to do now is lace up the sneakers and take them for a test drive! Your friends are going to be so enamored with your DIY skills, that they're going to try to get you to make them a pair. Beware!
DIY Glitter Shoes!
What you’ll need: -Any pair of flats, canvas shoes, or loafers -Mod Podge (available at craft stores) -Glitter (gold, silver, etc.) -Newspaper & a plate or bowl -Foam brushes or paint brushes -Clear coat spray paint (to make sure the glitter stays on!) First, you’ll want to stuff newspaper down into the shoe so that no glitter or glue gets inside! I removed the laces from my shoes also, just to make sure they didn’t get all gunked up. Pour some of the mod podge onto a plate or into a bowl. I used a paper plate because they are disposable and it was easier to use a flat surface to get a thin coating of the mix. Next, you’ll want to pour some glitter into the mod podge. You’ll want about half as much glitter as there is mod podge, because you don’t want the mix to be too thick. Mix the glitter and mod podge together using one of your foam brushes. Then get ready to paint your shoes! Paint a thin coat of the mix onto the shoe. Make sure that it is smooth and not too chunky because it will dry that way! I didn’t want to paint the whole shoe, so I only painted the front and the back, leaving the middle white. Once you have the mod podge mix on the shoe, you’ll want to pour a SMALL amount of glitter onto the spots you just painted. This just gives the shoe a little extra glitter, and makes sure that there are no white spots. When you’re finished adding the glitter to the shoes, you’ll want to clean off any extra glitter that is on the shoe because you don’t want it to be stuck there when you spray the clear coat. I used a damp paper towel to clean off the edges and the bottom. Last but not least, spray your shoes with a clear coat spray paint. This makes sure that the glitter stays shiny and does not fall off the shoes. Make sure to read the directions on the can and do not get it on your skin or in your eyes. When this is done, you’ll want the shoes to sit and dry overnight to make sure that they are ready to wear.
Why Hilary Duff's Clothes Shouldn't Define Her Motherhood
Stop slut shaming. Why is it that every time a mom posts a picture of herself where she feels good, the internet has to tear her down because it's too sexy, too provocative, or too inappropriate? Check out the picture that has garnered 118k likes and over 1,000 comments! Hilary Duff, don't let the haters get to you. The 28-year-old mom is under major heat after posting this photo on Tuesday of the outfit she wore to pick up her son Luca from school. Though Duff was feeling 'semi cute' in her very short shorts, tan top, and long trench, many fans had other opinions on her outfit. While Duff did invite her fans to tag themselves in their own #ootd, she got a reaction that were quite the opposite of what she had probably hoped for. "Hey moms! I came up with a semi cute outfit for school drop off! I usually roll in sweat pants or lulu lemons and look like a disaster but this morning I managed to throw something cute together and I thought I would share," Duff captioned the photo. "Cut offs or jeans. A light weight trench over a sweater or tee, cross body bag sneaks or booties and a pair of Sunnies! Now you try! Tag me in your photo (annnnd you don't have to wear such a serious face haha)." Everything from Instagram user señoritaatomasita writing, "I am sorry, the only issue that I have with her outfit is how tiny her shorts are. It given men mix signals about it's okay for them to cat call a female because what she wears. Plus the outfit does not posh" to other user simplelittleway writing, "I have always like her but no way is this appropriate. They look like panties. To whoever said the only ones bothered by this are insecure moms that never lost their baby fat. I love my body and I am thin. I however would never pick my son up in that. It's inappropriate for kids to see woman in their panties. Also I would not want to embarrass my son." Some moms are furious. However, not everyone has the same opinion. Instagram user iledahorsetowater wrote, "Rock it! What is up with all the negativity?? I think you are doing a fabulous job!" Even user shenry1977 loves Duff's style, "Your outfit rocks! Haters = motivators!!!" Many other moms commented that Duff is looking better than ever and there is no reason to retire the shorty shorts to fit a very skewed social standard. Women who support other women, we need more of this. But here's the thing, Duff should be able to wear this because she feels comfortable and it makes her happy. For a society that constantly promotes feminism and girls uniting with other girls to combat slut shaming and gender stereotyping, the negativity comments are doing just the opposite. A mom can be a mom AND sexy, pretty, cute, gorgeous, stunning, funny, and appealing. Just because you have a child does not mean that a woman should sacrifice her identity. Everyone freaked out weeks ago about Kim Kardashian's almost full nude mirror pick and it looks like the same haters have made their way to Duff's post. Leave Duff alone, she looks amazing. One word : WERK.
Review with Mew; The Blonds x DISNEY VILLAINS : SS2019 w @ NYFW
Mew here, and I was feeling particularly villainous today, so to also get you in the wicked mood I did a quick review of one of my favorite runways inspired by my favorite Disney villains. One of my all time favorite fashion runways is luxury fashion brand THE BLONDS presenting their SS’19 collection which was inspired by some of our hated? loved?Disney villains. The designers were undoubtedly successful in capturing the essence of Disney's most wicked characters! Here’s a look at my favorite pieces and their inspirations: The show started out with one of the baddest baddies in Disney: Malificent Malificent's coat was the inspiration and the piece was modeled by one of the designers himself Philippe Blond. He left the runway bloody after that walk but then proceeded to clean it up using one of my FAVE pieces of the night! Sir I respect your vision but please no…that looks expensive. Me, with my poison apple in tow, on my way to poison my 2nd husband after he writes me into his will: ± Next section was dedicated to Dr Facilier the CREEPiest villain to grace Disney Animation since Jafar…: Dr Facilier He still gives me chills whenever I think about his creepy smile but as an inspiration for this number? CHILLS ..but the good kind this time. The gold detailing on that vest is almost hypnotizing. ± Next up we have Wicked Witch of the Seas, ready to take your breath away! : Ursula Loved the webbed finger gloves and floorlength purple feathers; pay homage to the queen. And what is a sea witch without her cronies, eels Flotsam and Jetsam modeled by the ever stunning Dupont Twins. We LOVE a skin-tight bodysuit and highlighter green. ± THE MAIN EVENT was definitely Paris Hilton on her Cruella De Vil ish, modeling with her cute chihuahua. : Cruella De Vil The red lip contrast to the black and white mix thigh boots? A LOOK *No Dalmatians were harmed in the making of this STRUT* 101 Reasons to love this fur ensemble.^ Feeling nasty yet? ± Personally I LOVED every piece but these were a few of my favorites. DIY Sponge-Dyed Ombre Sneakers
You'll need: • Gloves • Syringe (1 per color) — Optional but recommended :) • Rubber Cement — Optional • Masking Tape — If you don’t have rubber cement • Sponge • Popsicle sticks for mixing the dye • Fabric Dye (Liquid or Powder) • Paintbrush (Make sure it’s clean — I suggest using a new brush; just buy the cheapest one) • Plastic Cups for mixing dye • Hot water • Newspaper or anything to cover your work area • Wear clothes you don’t mind having fabric dye spilled or splattered on Step 1: Bring out your sneakers :D (old or new) Step 2: Cover all the rubber side strips with Masking tape or Rubber Cement to block out the dye from adhering to the rubber. You can remove it afterwards or wait for it to wear off We won’t be dipping the entire shoe in the dye mixture so there’s no need to cover the soles. Step 3: Now you have to wet/soak your sneakers (canvas part only) with HOT water. You can do so by using a paintbrush first then soaking it more with a sponge. Step 4: Make your dye mixture Step 5: Once you’re done mixing your dye mixture (darkest) ~ take out your atomizer and syringe (optional). I think the smaller atomizers will work best for sneakers as it won’t cover a large surface area. For bigger materials such as shirts, you can use the bigger atomizers (Yes, the one you use when ironing clothes) Step 6: Use your sponge to wet your sneakers again :) Make sure to cover the whole area~! Spray the back part of your shoe with the dye bath. Careful not to over-spray :) You can always spray again :D Step 7 : Now take your brush, dip it in your hot water and carefully blend out your dye (Colored to white areas of your shoe). Yes, we are now creating the ‘ombre effect’. Use more water as you get nearer the middle part of your shoe or wherever you want the ombre to end (white). Afterwards, clean your brush and dip it again in water (clean hot water). Now carefully brush water starting from the WHITE part of your shoe to the lightest ombre — this is to remove or make any hard lines more subtle. Repeat steps until you’re satisfied with your ombre. If you’re using only one color, you can stop here and let your sneaks dry :) Step 8: If you’re planning to have 2 or more colors, simply repeat steps 4 - 7.
