When Throwback Thursday and Flashback Friday meet on the runway for a walk off.
Before there was a Chanel Iman or Jourdan Dunn of the runway, there was Iman, Naomi and Tyra. Of course, when we think of women of color who have slayed the runway [and are still slaying] -- those are the first that come to mind. Most can't name too many more, but so many amazing African American women walked the runway and they deserve the recognition they never quite received. In celebration of New York Fashion Week, I would like to take a trip down memory lane [or in this case, a trip down the catwalk] to commemorate some of the first woman of color to slay and pave the way for others strutting their stuff down the runway.
