It's a pretty common known fact that real mercury provides some serious health risks. But mercury glass looks so cool! This DIY project will let you achieve the cool look of mercury glass without the dangerous health risks. It's a win-win for everyone! This project comes from the creative people at The Paper Mama.
For this project, you will need:
-- Spray bottle
-- White vinegar and water
-- Paper towels
-- Krylon Looking Glass Mirror spray paint (you can find this at a craft store or online)
-- Rubber gloves
Spray the glassware
Make sure you do this project in a well-ventilated area. Wear rubber gloves to protect your skin from the materials. Also, wear clothes that you don't care about just in case you get some paint or vinegar on your clothes.
Fill the spray bottle with half white vinegar and half water. Spray the mirror spray all over the glassware. Then spray a layer of the vinegar mixture all of the glassware. Let the mixture dry for 2-4 minutes. After that, use a paper towel to dab the vinegar mixture — DO NOT RUB! Repeat these steps until you are happy with the look.
Now you have mercury glassware to use as vases or something to hold your pens or utensils!
