Underrated Nickelodeon Shows That Should Be Given a Second Chance
If you ever took a look at my bio, you would know that I was a HUGE Nickelodeon fan growing up.
There were so many good shows on back then. Unfortunately sometimes good series fall through the cracks due to lack of budgeting.
Below are a list of a couple great shows on NICK that fell through the cracks back in the day that would be great for a reboot.
The Adventures of Pete and Pete
The Adventures of Pete & Pete is an American children's television series created by Will McRobb and Chris Viscardi for Nickelodeon. It centers on the humorous and surreal adventures of two brothers both named Pete Wrigley, along with an eccentric cast of family, friends, and enemies.
This show was extremely well written and had great replay value as well. This show could've ran for could be good for a re-boot as well.
The Secret World of Alex Mack
Alex Mack is an ordinary teenage girl, living with her parents, George and Barbara, and older sister, Annie, in the corporate town of Paradise Valley. While walking home after her first day of junior high school, she is nearly hit by a truck from a chemical plant, and during the incident, she is drenched with a top-secret chemical called GC-161. She soon discovers that it gave her strange powers. These include telekinesis, the ability to zap bolts of electricity from her fingers, and the capacity to morph into a mobile puddle of water.
The show was AMAZING. This also spawned a pretty nice career for Larisa Oleynik who went on to star on "Ten Things I Hate About You."
Ren & Stimpy
The Ren & Stimpy Show, often simply referred to as Ren & Stimpy, is an American animated television series created by John Kricfalusi for Nickelodeon. The series follows the adventures of titular characters Ren, an emotionally unstable chihuahua, and Stimpy, a good-natured, dimwitted cat.
The show appeared as one the "original three" cartoons on the platform with Rugrats and Doug. This cartoon was incredibly funny but I feel a bit too dark and risky for the time. This show would be PERFECT for a remake now on Nick or Adult Swim.
Salute Your Shorts
Salute Your Shorts is an American comedy television series that aired on Nickelodeon from 1991 to 1992 and in reruns until early 1999. It was based on the 1986 book, Salute Your Shorts: Life at Summer Camp by Steve Slavkin and Thomas Hill.
For a show that had such a successful re-run length, I am surprised this one never got a re-boot. The show had the making of something special and had great replay value.
