Sarah Silverman Thinks Older Comedians Need To Get With The Changing Times

Sarah Silverman may not be the funniest comedian of all time, but she has withstood the test of time.

According to Silverman, this isn't by chance though. The talented comedian understands pushing the envelope and keeping things honest have been a key to her success.

While it’s easy to dismiss those who are offended by her brand of comedy, she suggests that changing with the times isn’t the worst thing ever.
During an interview with Krista Smith of Vanity Fair, Silverman spoke in-depth about keeping his acts pure and raw, which often allows her to put forth the best product.
"To a degree, everyone’s going to be offended by something, so you can’t just decide on your material based on not offending anyone. But, I do think it’s important — as a comedian, as a human — to change with the times, to change with new information. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with changing with the times. I think it’s a sign of being old when you are put off by that."

Is Silverman right? Should we let the youth guide the content we deliver to the masses?

I think she's right on the money with this. college-aged kids are the ones who are shaping and creating the future of common culture, and that's where all good comedy draws from. as a comedian you need to be able to understand that and work with it to do well.
I feel like you just need to know your demographic and give them what they want.
First off, love her! second off, I think she is so right. the audience is what shapes the content and WE ARE THE FUTURE
I don't think it's youth necessarily- though that is a part of it. I think it's an internal process as much as anything else. If you're not changing and growing as a person, your act is going to be stagnant because in a way your LIFE is stagnant. People change as they get older, and that's not a bad thing. In fact, for comedians, that's probably where a lot of your material will come from
