5 Takeaways from the Second GOP Debate
Alright, I’m not going to lie. I didn’t watch all of the GOP Debate (did anyone?). As someone who usually calls herself politically savvy, honestly I couldn’t bare to watch, like, 5 hours of arguments. I did however, scour the internet to catch up on the things I missed. And truth be told, I didn’t miss much. But it’s important to stay up to speed.

Here’s what I got out of the Second GOP Debate:

When Trump had to comment on everyone’s looks...

When accused of calling Fiorina ugly...Trump offered a weird compliment, "I think she’s got a beautiful face, and I think she’s a beautiful woman.”
Another instance with Rand Paul (who brought up the issue himself): "His visceral response to attack people on their personal appearance, short, tall, fat, ugly, my goodness that happened in junior high. Are we not all worried.”
Trump back: "I never attacked him on his look and believe me there's plenty of subject matter there - that I can tell you.” (ohhhhh burn)
And for someone that likes to make fun of looks, Trump sure had a lot of facial expressions himself.

When I felt bad for Scott Walker...

Walker to Trump: "We don't need an apprentice in the White House. We have one right now." And he says Trump has put projects into bankruptcy and he can't do that to America.
Trump to Walker: “I would do better than Walker has leading Wisconsin since 2011, the state is losing $2.2 billion.”
Yikes. He’s right.

When Jeb smacked Trump...

(Sort’ve) It was more of a high-five...Trump initiated the low-five after Jeb made a friendly joke, but you can kinda tell Jeb had a lot of force behind the smack. Perhaps all that pent-up Trump frustration?

When Fiorina Dominated...

In my opinion, the one person that stood out to me the most was Carly Fiorina. Though you may not agree with what she stands for, she was able to argue her position, confident address the question, all while remaining intelligent in a debate of nonsense, and that’s what I call winning a debate.
During the debate this question was posed at Fiorina:
"In an interview last week in Rolling Stone magazine, Donald Trump said the following about you. Quote, 'Look at that face. Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?' Mr. Trump later said he was talking about your persona, not your appearance. Please feel free to respond what you think about his persona.”
Fiorina "I think women all over this country heard very clearly what Mr. Trump said.”
You go, girl.

When Twitter showed who won...

Twitter is the only way to show who really won...like duh! Eh, if Twitter followers were an indication of winners, then Florina won followed by Carson. Take it as you will.

I can barely bear to read recaps of recaps so props to you for putting this together!!! I can't stand that political debates have become (have always been?) like schoolyard shenanigans.
Totally @hikaymm! Which was why I was so impressed when Fiorina directed the conversation and made it about the real issues.
@nicolejb Yes!! I don't get why the other candidates don't realize that doing more of that (REAL CONVERSATION) would give them more traction with a lot of the public....
FORREAL! haha It makes candidates more well-respected the more they focus on the real stuff.
