If you haven't heard of the refugee crisis happening in Europe and the Middle East at this point, I'd be shocked. I've heard a lot about it. I've read a lot of news. I've tried to come to an understanding about what is happening, but frankly, there's a lot going on, and a lot of different opinions floating around out there.
This video from "In a Nutshell" (one of my favorite youtube channels) does a great job of explaining it, and from a bias that I largely agree with.
I don't have much more to offer here, but I know there are other newsies out there like me who want to understand the situation better, so that we can make judgement calls about where we stand and how we can help.
I'm not sure there is anything I can do to help in this crisis, but in this situation, at least understanding what is happening in another part of the world seems like a great start!!

If you have any other articles or news pieces that helped you to understand the crisis, please share them with me!

I'm really keen to learn a lot more about the long standing tensions and situations that have led us to this point.
@ButterflyBlu LOL that's so funny! I subscribe to in a nutshell but I actually found this vid because John retweeted it :) I've been familiar with nerdfighteria since....idk...2009? 2008? For a while :D Glad to see I'm not the only one!
(I should note, they typically address their videos TO each other. So John will talk to Hank, and vice versa. :) Just fyi. ^.^)
The vlogbrothers (John and Hank Green, my favorite nerds ^.^) on YT are also amazing at explaining such things intelligently. They don't focus ONLY on current news, but if something is happening in the world, they tend to want to explain it. (Be warned, though, they can be random as all get out if you follow them.) Here is John's explanation, if you'd like to watch: https://youtu.be/KVV6_1Sef9M
@hikaymm Awesome!! You're definitely not the only one! I'm a HUGE fan! ^.^
Thanks !! @nicolejb
