You may not know their names quite like you know Burberry and Vivienne Westwood, but these designers are labels to look out for, and their London Fashion Week spring 2016 shows commanded respect and attention. From designers that are rising above the radar to those who have recently become household names, but not quite of Gucci status, these collections blew me (and countless fashionista's) away this London Fashion Week.
Above: a delicate but graphic Peter Pilotto look.
Stripes and starched ruffles were the name of the game for Roksanda's runway show, in a palette of yellow, black, blush, baby blue, and pops of tangerine. Roksanda Ilincic seemed to look to geometry and jigsaw puzzle shapes for her bold and clean collection full of dresses.
In their Spring 2016 collection, Peter Pilotto and Chrisopher de Vos acheived a kind of unique juxtaposition between esquisite delicateness and bold, pseudo-athletic lines. How they define this kind of powerhouse woman is beyond me, but I just knew I wanted every look to walk the runway for myself.
Designer-on-the-rise Simone Rocha delivered dreamy pink goodness of dresses, inspired by her own pregnancy as well as an eye-opening study in Tokyo. The feminine and sweet elements can't be denied, but are given a certain amount of weight with cross-body straps and suspenders that lend the tiniest bit of toughness to a sugary sweet collection.
Erdem Moralıoğlu has risen to the status of an almost household name in the fashion community, but he is still one to watch as his steep rise continues to impress. His spring 2016 collection showed off the same kind of powerful and strong femininity he is so known for, with Victoriana influences and off-the-shoulder slinkiness.
J. W Anderson
Jonathan Anderson is known for his provocative avant-garde designs, and his usual androgeny took form in exaggerated silhouettes, ranging from super-vixen-worthy bustiers to oversized puff sleeves that even the 80's would raise some eyebrows at. All in all, the somewhat of a newcomer to the high-fashion world put together a jaw-dropping show in the greatest way.
