If I had told you in April that it would be September 22nd and the Mets would be celebrating a big, big win thanks to the contributions of Jon Niese and Michael Conforto, you'd have called me crazy.

And rightfully so - Conforto wasn't on anyone's radar, and Niese was just a veteran 5th starter.

That was then. This is now.

Conforto smacked a homer and Niese went 6 scoreless innings, allowing just three hits. The bullpen did the rest of the job and it was a great win for the Mets at a time when they really needed it.
The Nationals had their game rained out, so the Mets' magic number is down to 7. They have a 6.5 game lead in the division.

It was a great day for New York sports fans in general, as the Jets beat the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football, too.

Great win for the Mets, great win for the Jets.

One complaint:

Can the Mets please stop wearing those camouflage uniforms?

Anyone with me? @christianmordi @mchlyang @ButterflyBlu @superiorsl Those are hideous. Show me that orange and blue!
I agree that the jerseys are kinda hideous with the pants... But isn't it part of their Military Monday program through the season? If that's the case, I'll suffer the unis. I'll always support that. (Sorry, I'm an army brat. :P )
@jeff4122 I agree with the camouflage uniform. They're really ugly and the Mets already have amazing colors haha. But to be honest, I really liked the black caps they wore back in the day. It looked more strong and stylish
@ButterflyBlu yeah, it's a great cause, i can't argue that!
