Today, the world lost a good one.
Hall of famed catcher Yogi Berra has passed away today. Berra died of natural causes Tuesday at his home in New Jersey, according to Dave Kaplan, the director of the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center. He was 90.
Yogi was an exceptional baseball player, who led the Yankees to 10 world titles.
While many will marvel at his performance on the field, his wit and charm is something many will miss as well. Yogi is the "king of the catch phrase." some of his clever quotables were "If you see a fork in the road, take it," and "it was deja vu all over again." Probably his most famous line is "It ain't over... til its over. "
In a statement released Wednesday, Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner said that "Berra's legacy transcends baseball."
"He simply had a way of reaching and relating to people that was unmatched. That's what made him such a national treasure. On behalf of my family and the entire Yankees organization, we extend our deepest condolences to Yogi's family, friends and loved ones," he said.
Thanks for everything Yogi, you are appreciated.
