Since yesterday was the first day of fall, I thought it would be great to do a great fall DIY tutorial. This leaf bowl is perfect for decorating your home or apartment or holding some fruit or letters. This DIY tutorial comes from the creative people at Crafts Unleashed.
For this project, you will need:
-- Artificial leaves
-- Mod Podge
-- Plastic bowl
-- Plastic wrap
-- Sponge brush
You can find all of these items at a craft store.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap
Use the plastic wrap and cover the entire bowl with plastic wrap.
Put on the leaves
Use the sponge brush to paint on the Mod Podge over the artificial leaves on top of the plastic wrap. Make sure you are generous with the Mod Podge — you don't want your leaves coming apart. Cover the entire bottom of the bowl and about half way up the sides of the bowl.
Cover the wet leaves
Tear off another piece of plastic wrap and cover the wet leaves with the plastic wrap. This will ensure that your leaves dry flat and stick together. Place outside in the sun for about 4 hours. Then remove the outer layer of plastic wrap and let the leaves completely dry.
Spray the leaves
Take the Krylon Triple Thick Glaze and spray a few layers of the glaze over the outside of the leaves. Allow the glaze to dry completely in between each coat. This will help firm up the leaves and make sure they keep their shape. After the last coat is completely dry, carefully remove the leaves from the plastic wrap.
Step back and admire your wonderful fall creation!
