Miami Slang: "What Dey Do"

Today's Word or Phrase is: "What Dey Do"

It's another weird way of saying 'what's up' or 'how have you been.' I used to use this term so much, I didn't understand why people looked at me funny when I used it outside of Miami. But -- you live and you learn!

Examples of How to Use the Word:

"Ay, Ingrid -- what dey do?!" "Hey bro. What dey do? I heard you've been sick."

@mchlyang I'm going to say all day and see what happens. We will see how Texans react to it! haha
Is it bilingual in some way? Not to be rude, but it almost seems more suited for "how did things go in there?" or maybe "How did things go with those fools?" Like a what did they do? It is so cool to get exposed to slang used in different places. It feels like a new dialect sometimes. Like the difference in pop and soda, subway or a grinder, and sometimes funny like the blue collar comics would say, Dijeet?, nah Dijoo? Ja-untoo, well let's Getunoutaheer! Ha!
Wait, so what does the 'dey' stand for? I'm so confused and yet this sounds so awesome.
