MLB Top Plays of the Day (09/24/15)

Here are your Top 5 Plays of the Day!

5. Cody Anderson (Cleveland Indians)

We saw something similar a few days ago with David Price. Well, he's not the only one in the Major Leagues with monster reflexes. Cody Anderson of the Cleveland Indians wasn't even thinking when he lowered his glove. And the next second, the ball was sitting right there in his glove. The Tribe beats the Twins 6-3.

4. Chase Headley (New York Yankees)

The ball was hit hard to third, but Chase Headley wasn't going to let it get passed by him. He dived to stop the ball and got up quickly to fire the ball from foul territory all the way to first to get the out. He robbed a hit from Abreu for sure and possibly one or two RBIs. The Yankees inch past the White Sox 3-2.

3. Nolan Arenado (Colorado Rockies)

It was a tough ball for Nolan Arenado. But we know we have seen plenty of great plays from the Rockies third baseman. Arenado grabs it barehand and throws a rocket to first to get the out. This play made his case for a Gold Glove a lot stronger. The Pirates however beat the Rockies 5-4.

2. Marcell Ozuna (Miami Marlins)

The ball was hit right center and Marcell Ozuna knew exactly where the ball was going. He did not hesitate one bit and timed his slide perfectly to make it to the second spot on the Top Plays list. With a very strong defense game, the Marlins beat the Phillies 1-0.

1. Miguel Rojas (Miami Marlins)

Yes, the Miami defense game was on point tonight and the best play of the night goes to another Miami Marlin, Miguel Rojas. It sure looked like it was going to be a base hit up the middle, but Rojas dived, got on his feet, and fired one to first to get the out. And with great defensive plays from Rojas and Ozuna, the Marlins beat the Phillies, 1-0.

definitely the Cody Anderson one
@Starbell808 Haha. Maybe I should've put that play in the number one spot. Everyone seems to like that play by Anderson best.
i like 5
Great play from Ozuna! He makes plays like that against the Mets on the regular...
@jeff4122 He definitely is a great outfielder. He's really good at predicting where the ball's gonna land.

MLB Top Plays of the Day (09/13/15)
Here are your Top 5 Plays of the Day! 5. Jason Heyward (St. Louis Cardinals) The Cardinals' nightmare has finally come to an end. Cards' defense was exceptional today with Yadier Molina throwing out NL basestealing leader Billy Hamilton. But the MVP goes to Heyward for snagging Ivan De Jesus Jr.'s home run especially when the game was still in doubt. Heyward learned his lesson on Saturday when Adam Duvall's two run homer bounced off the top of the wall. The Cardinals beat the Reds 9-2. 4. Khris Davis (Milwaukee Brewers) If only the Brewers have won, this guy would have been the Man of the Match. Khris Davis robbed a homer from Francisco Cervelli and kept his team going. He not only robbed that homer, he blasted a two-run homer the next inning to keep the Brewers alive. Despite an amazing performance both defensively and offensivley by Davis, the Brewers lose to the Pirates 7-6 in the 11th inning. 3. Brian Bogusevic (Philadelphia Phillies) The Phillies' right fielder, Brian Bogusevic, and his fully extended diving catch robbed Dexter Fowler's potential double. You could see starting pitcher, Aaron Harang, show his appreciation with an air-five! With Bogusevic's amazing play, the Chicago Cubs lost to the Phillies (the worst team in the MLB) 7-4. 2. Lonnie Chisenhall (Cleveland Indians) The Indians' Right Fielder made this impressive play in deep right field. It was an all out diving effort all the way to the warning track and stole a possible double, or even a triple away from Rajai Davis. Despite Justin Verlander starting for the Tigers' mound, Detroit lost to the Tribe 7-2. 1. Brandon Barnes (Colorado Rockies) And the number one play from last night's games come from Brandon Barnes of the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies' left fielder not only made a phenomenal play, he made that play into a double play. This was the game-winner for the Rockies as they topped the Seattle Mariners 3-2. Barnes said he felt a bit dizzy after he slammed his head into the ground but he kept his focus to sling the ball to first and throw out Ketel Marte. MLB Top 5 Plays of the Day (10/04/15)
Here are your Top 5 Plays of the Day! 5. Starlin Castro (Chicago Cubs) It was a fair ball down the first baseline. But after Anthony Rizzo fumbled the ball, it looked like it was going to be a base hit. But Castro beautifully went to cover for Rizzo and tossed the ball the Dan Haren to get the out! The Cubs beat the Brewers 3-1 in their final regular season game. 4. Nick Noonan (San Francisco Giants) This one was skied shallow to center field. We saw something similar the night before so when Nick Noonan went for it, we knew magic was going to happen once again. He followed the ball nicely to make the catch! The Giants however fell to the Rockies 7-3 in their final game of the season. 3. Jose Ramirez (Cleveland Indians) It was hit deep second base, but Jose Ramirez followed the ball perfectly and spun around to make a perfect throw to first. He not only got the out, he also made it to the Top 5 Plays of the Day! The Indians beat the Red Sox 3-1. 2. Kris Bryant (Chicago Cubs) The superstar rookie is still on fire as he preps for his first ever Major League post season. Bryant made that smooth backhand catch and made a jump toss all the way to first to get the out! What was even more incredible was the fact that it was a no hopper. He also got a standing ovation from the fans. Again, the Cubs beat the Brewers 3-1. 1. Nolan Reimold (Baltimore Orioles) The ball was hit high into left-center field. The wind was carrying the ball further and further away from Reimold, but he wasn't going to give up. Just as the ball was about to hit the ground, Reimold dived and caught the ball! What a play by Reimold! The Orioles beat the Yankees 9-2 for their final game of the season. Now that was your Top 5 Plays of the Day from last night's games! MLB Top Plays of the Day (09/23/15)
Here are your Top 5 Plays of the Day! 5. Alcides Escobar (Kansas City Royals) As soon as that was hit, we knew it was going to be a Texas hit. Well...except for Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar! It was a little bloop but Escobar chased it so well and times his elegant leap perfectly to catch the ball and get the out. The Royals beat the Mariners 4-3. 4. Lonnie Chisenhall (Cleveland Indians) The ball was lifted to short right. Second baseman, Jason Kipnis was out and he had a very good reason for it. Lonnie Chisenhall calls for the ball and gets it on a diving catch. I am pretty sure he had one eye on the ball and the other on his second baseman to make everything so perfect. The Indians however fall to the Twins 4-2. 3. Cameron Maybin (Atlanta Braves) We've seen a lot of elegant leaps today. But you have to give Maybin credit for his leap on the warning track, near the fence. The breaking ball was lined to center but he backed quickly and showed us that center field was his territory. Very nice play from the Braves centerfielder! The Braves beat the Mets 6-3. 2. Kyle Schwarber (Chicago Cubs) It went high in the air but Schwarber never took his eyes off the ball as soon as it made contact with the bat. He had a quick start and times his dive perfectly to catch the ball on the warning track. I seriously don't know how he caught it. He went all out for it as you can see him slide all the way to the fence. Despite Schwarber's fantastic play, the Cubs fell to the Brewers 4-1. 1. Yogi Berra Tribute Yes. Number one goes to Yogi Berra, as his life and career is celebrated around Major League Baseball. I would like to pay my respect to one of the greatest baseball players. He wasn't just a great baseball player though. He was a great man and he will truly be missed. RIP Yogi Berra (1925 - 2015) Now that was your Top 5 Plays of the Day from last night's games! CC Sabathia enters alcohol rehab center
CC Sabathia will not be pitching for the Yankees this postseason as he announced yesterday, that he will check himself into an alcohol rehab center. "Today I am checking myself into an alcohol rehabilitation center to receive the professional care and assistance needed to treat my disease. I love baseball and I love my teammates like brothers, and I am also fully aware that I am leaving at a time when we should all be coming together for one last push toward the World Series." The Yankees will play the Houston Astros in the American League wild card game tomorrow. During a press conference, general manager, Brian Cashman announced Sabathia's decision and said he was told of Sabathia's decision through an unexpected phone call from the pitcher himself. "CC has demonstrated a great deal of courage in trying to tackle this problem. Time and place have no bearing. There is something here that needs to be taken care of, and I applaud him." Cashman also said, "What CC is dealing with is a life issue. It is bigger than the game [Tuesday] night." This means that the Yankees will be missing a veteran pitcher in their pitching rotation. The 2007 Cy Young award winner posted a record of 6-10 and an ERA of 4.73 this season. But he has been gaining back his form lately settling down to a 3.80 ERA in August and a 2.17 ERA in September. What is this going to mean for the New York Yankees? We shall find out after tomorrow's game as they could potentially end their season tomorrow!
