If you're a vodka lover and want to mix things up a bit, have you ever tried infusing your vodka? I don't necessarily consume a lot of vodka, but this idea of infusing it with fruits, teas and berries has me captivated.
Here's a great Fall recipe to try out: Orange and Chai Tea.
In doing some research on how to go about infusing vodka I came across Tito's Handmade Vodka, which is online where he runs his Texas business. On his site he shows you a myriad ways of infusing your precious liquor!
Orange & Chai Tea
- 1L of vodka
- Rind from one orange.
Let sit for 3-5 days and taste. If the vodka has achieved an orange flavor you like, strain out the orange peel.
A vegetable peeler works great for this – be sure to limit the amount of white pith as that can make your infusion bitter
To your now orange-flavored vodka, add:
-3 Chai tea bags
Let steep for 10-15 minutes. Remove the tea bags once the infusion tastes great to you!!
With your new Chai-Infused Orange Vodka, try this:
Shaken over ice with a dash of maple syrup, strained into a martini glass and garnished with a peel of orange.
