Vinagre de Piña is very popular in Central America, and it's super easy to make. So, if you're looking for a homemade vinegar recipe, with a light punch of pineapple-- you've come to the right place. I promise it's easy to make! (I'm not about the hard recipe life haha)
You can use pineapple vinegar on salads, vegetables, or on anything you want to freshen up. It has the same sort of use as your standard vinegar. It only takes 3 ingredients to make this awesome, homemade vinegar: pineapple, water, and brown sugar.
Let's do ittttt....
What You'll Need:
Peeling and trimmings of 1 pineapple
3/4 dark brown sugar (or piloncillo)
1 1/2 quarts of water
How To Make It:
1) Add the pineapple trimmings, brown sugar/piloncillo and water into glass jar and stir with a clean spoon to dissolve the sugar.
2) Cover the jar with plastic wrap and a lid and set in a warm, dark place for about 4 to 6 weeks. The liquid will turn murky and brown at first. But as time passes, any solids will settle out and the liquid will clear.
3) Once the liquid has cleared, strain the solids out of the vinegar by pouring it through a coffee filter. Store in a clean bottle away from light and in a cool place.
