I had to fight every urge I had to start this card with all-caps with the word Warriors three times and then a link you have to click where it's just the constant sound of banging glass bottles.
If that last paragraph didn't make any sense to you then you probably aren't a giant fan of the movie The Warriors. It came out almost 36 years ago and it's about a gang in New York that has to travel all the way back to their home turf on Coney Island without getting killed. It's very much a portrait of it's time. The funny outfits, the gang culture, the synth-y soundtrack, it's all there.
But recently, Rolling Stone reunited the cast for one last ride to Coney Island and it might be one of the most magical things I've ever seen in my life.
Yeah, so what they're all old now. And who cares if The Warriors is a cult classic. It's still amazing that the film had such an affect on New Yorkers and people everywhere. I think my favorite thing about this how they're complaining about walking up the stairs, or comparing the subways of old to the new ones now.
And I don't know why and I can't really explain it but when they got back to Coney in the video above to a crowd of people welcoming them, I got a little misty eyed. If you're into The Warriors and wish you had one of those cool vests, check out the video above and live in the past with me. I don't want to be the only one crying at the fact that my heroes are getting old.

I think the youth groups that have usedd the legacy of the Warriors for their outreach programs is actually really inspiring. It's good to see people making connections with their communities in positive, uplifting ways. espeically in Coney, where shit can get too real.
