NBA Trade Rumors (02/12/13)
Hope everyone had a good weekend. Here are the latest rumors in the NBA. Iman Shumpert, New York Knicks Although Iman Shumpert missed most of the season due to a knee injury, he is already in high demand. According to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, the Phoenix Suns are pursuing a possible trade with the New York Knicks: "As the Phoenix Suns try to reshuffle their roster for the future, their front office remains motivated to try to acquire New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert, league sources told Yahoo! Sports." The Suns are willing to give New York a package that includes forward Jared Dudley and possibly a future first-round pick for Shumpert. Shumpert has started in all 12 games for the Knicks since returning, but the team has a lot of depth in the backcourt (Jason Kidd, Raymond Felton, J.R. Smith, Pablo Prigioni, James White). The squad can afford to make a trade if the right offer presents itself. However, Wojnarowski reports that New York is still unwilling to make any deal as of now. Harrison Barnes, Golden State Warriors There is no surprise that one of the best young players in the NBA is drawing interest around the league. The seventh overall pick in last year's draft is currently sixth among rookies in scoring (9.4 points per game) and is a big part of the success of the Golden State Warriors this season. According to Marcus Thompson (via Sulia.com), this has led to a few phone calls from other teams: "Harrison Barnes' name comes up quite a bit. But the Warriors aren't interesting in moving Barnes. One source it would take a "major offer" to get them to even think about moving Barnes. It's obvious to Warriors fans that Barnes is/should be untouchable. But that hasn't stop teams from trying to pry him away for the Warriors." Considering Barnes' importance to the team and his potential, it would take a lot for him to be moved, but a big enough trade chip to improve the team's chances of contending this season could force the Warriors to make a deal. J.J. Redick, Orlando Magic The Milwaukee Bucks are looking to stay in playoff position, and one way to do that is attempting to acquire J.J. Redick from the Orlando Magic. According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the Bucks are currently working on a potential deal: "Weekend Dime addendum: Milwaukee now in mix for Magic's JJ Redick. Bucks, I'm told, assessing their ability to retain sharpshooter long term" Redick is currently shooting 40.1 percent from three-point range this season, which would improve the Bucks' 35.3 percent that they are shooting as a team. The guard has shown that he can do more than shoot threes, averaging 15.3 points, 4.5 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 0.6 steals, all career highs. Ersan Ilyasova and Mike Dunleavy are among the league-leaders in three-point shooting percentage, but Redick would make the Bucks very difficult to defend offensively.
