Superman Doesn't Have These Problems

Wonder Woman doesn't always have it easy.

If you missed it, Alex Di Campi did some amazing work writing Wonder Woman: Sensation Comics (these panels are from #20). It sounds like some of our favorite heroines are getting a little fed up with the way they're treated in comparison to their male counterparts... (via)

If you're ever feeling self-conscious, just remember that Wonder Woman has cellulite, too.

The entire comic is great, but Di Campi used these panels as a rare opportunity to address the double-standards we apply to our heroes. Of course these characters aren't real, but if we do it to the characters we love, isn't it possible we'll end up doing it to people in real life as well?

I think it's very important. An entire generation of kids are now starting to read these comics. It's critical to think about what we're teaching them. Comics throughout time have addressed current events and social issues. This is one that women deal with now and should be addressed, for the sake of both young boys and girls.
@ButterflyBlu @jibarito @KarvaHevner @loftonc16 @karencorchado heck yeah! I love how real she is... just kind of exasperated with how ridiculous it all is. Does it kind of remind you of some of the actresses who have been getting more vocal about this lately? I'm thinking of like... ScarJo on the Avengers tour "why do you get the deep character question and I get the rabbit food question" kind of thing. @purplem00n23 I absolutely recommend it! Alex Di Campi is an amazing writer and everything she does is really progressive and entertaining- which is the BEST combo imo ^_^
@buttetflyblu yaaaaaasss! It's nice to see that even our female superhero's have things that bother them about their body and how they lightheartedly deal with it. # Empowering!
I love it, it's deadpool-like, but for a bigger and deeper issue which applies in today's society. Kudos to the writers for this lol
this is awesome!!! I might just have to buy this issue!!!

Beauty Tips That Should Be Taught...But Aren't.
I am so sick of opening a magazine and being bombarded with all the ways to make myself beautiful. Now, I am not one to wear that much makeup (mostly because I am terrible at it and people that can make ombre lips are artists), but its hard not to feel out of place and less attractive when you aren't in a full face and cute shoes. But lets be real, beauty tips are awesome and weight loss tips are usually a lie, but here are some REAL LIFE BEAUTY TIPS that every person should know before they start dabbling in the make up and fashion world. And for some reason, no magazine is teaching them. 1. No size is the Wrong Size Everyones body is different and yet, everyone is still just as beautiful as the next person! So keep that in mind before you try and squeeze yourself into the size you think is the "beautiful size", because I know we all have that one number in our head. Reaching your goal size will not make everything perfect, because you already are perfect. 2. With or without make up you look great! The make up debate is stupid and needs to stop. If you wear make up because you feel more comfortable or just love putting it on then rock it! If you hate make up you still look amazing. There is no reason make up should be that big of an issue and there is no reason someone should feel uncomfortable even going to the bathroom without it on. Have confidence in your face and everyone around you will notice how awesome you look. 3. Dress to your comfort! And I don't just mean sweats, although I'm wearing some now and love every second of my life. When you go out dress in an outfit that will ensure you having the most fun! If you like short skirts, go for it. If you hate heels, don't wear them! There is absolutely no reason why you should feel uncomfortable all night because for some reason society teaches that you have to impress drunk strangers. 4. Loose, black clothing doesn't have to be the only thing you wear to "slim you down." One of the most amazing parts of the body positivity movement includes plus sizes women posting pictures of themselves looking AMAZING in patterns, bright colors, and crop tops and the results are AMAZING! Black should be tossed to the side in favor of some eye catching outfits because you are beautiful and deserve to be in the spot light. FYI Thats Tess Holliday and she is perfection. 5. Confidence is all that matters! If you are confident in how you look, no matter what, you will radiate energy! Your confidence is what will attract people to you and thats what gets you friends and loved ones, not your looks. So keep that in mind because your mom is right, what's on the inside is what matters the most.
Happiness Is Not One Size Fits All; Fat Shamming is Real
We live in a world where no women can live her life without being shamed because she is fat, skinny, tall, short, flat chested or rocking triple E's. So you would think that women would unite together, say screw the impossible standards that our bodies are scrutinized under and support each other, right? Too bad the support ends once people (who aren't ever health care professionals) deem a human being too "unhealthy" and "obese" for common human decency. And that my friends is what we call fat shaming. Fat Shaming [noun] : the unkind and usually public criticism of someone for being overweight. Recently comedian Nicole Arbour posted a video entitled "Dear Fat People" in which she claims fat shaming doesn't exist, compares fat people to Frankenstein, says she can outrun fat people by just walking, and even makes some racial slurs about curvy black women in their sunday best. I'm sorry but WHAT?! This hateful, public video criticizing and making fun of fat people is the very definition of fat shaming and if you don't believe me see above definition. Unfortunately this video has racked up more than 18 million views and 177,000 likes on Facebook alone. Luckily body positive super star and TLC's very own Whitney Thore from My Big Fat Beautiful Life has come to the rescue of insecure women everywhere who don't find anything funny in this fat shaming, cyber bulling video attempting to be passed off as comedy. Check out her perfect response video here and watch her flawlessly shred every single cruel statement Arbour made. Thore's response has more than 10.2 million views and nearly 180,000 likes on Facebook and counting! I will share this video till forever. But seriously, here are 3 very important things to come out of this video! 1. Thore makes comments on the fact that while heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, anxiety and depression are all prevalent in over weight people, they are just as common in skinny people! You can not tell someone's health just by looking at them! 2. She admits that she once suffered from an eating disorder. What confuses me is that Arbour would never criticize someone with an eating disorder however the shaming begins once healthy isn't the correct size for her. 3. And this is the most important...Arbour seems to be delusional if she thinks that calling out fat people to "motivate them", will kick start them into losing weight. To bad Thore has don't the research. Studies show fat shaming and "funny videos motivating fat people" (eye roll), do the opposite of motivate. In fact videos like these will lead so many women and men alike to feel even more insecure, afraid to go to the gym for fear of judgement, and push them further into unhealthy physical and mental lifestyles. So think about that before finding body shaming of any kind funny, because you might have one person laughing at the joke but you will force way more people then that further into recluse. Thankfully we have body positive superstars like Whitney Thore there to remind everyone that she loves them and they are perfect and beautiful and that happiness isn't reserved for a certain size waist. All I can say is a very eloquent Fuck Off to Nicole Arbour. You are not a comedian, and that video you posted is cyber bullying and will do more harm then your comedy will ever do good. Oh, and she isn't sorry at all about what she said. She makes that quite clear.
HOW TO GET RID OF DANDRUFF ON YOUR EYEBROWS
Dandruff on your eyebrows can be embarrassing, but it’s not a serious condition. There are a few things you can do to treat it, and it usually clears up on its own within a few weeks. If it doesn’t, see your doctor. TABLE OF CONTENTS Introduction: What are the Causes of Dandruff on Eyebrows? What are the symptoms of dandruff on eyebrows? Home Remedies for Dandruff on Eyebrows The Best Treatment for Dandruff on Eyebrows Prevention of Dandruff on Eyebrows Conclusion: The Ultimate Guide to Treating Your Dandruff On Eyebrows INTRODUCTION: WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF DANDRUFF ON EYEBROWS? Dandruff is a common, superficial problem of the scalp in which the skin cells are shed from the head. It’s caused by an overgrowth of yeast called Malassezia globose, which is a normal part of healthy skin but becomes too much for your skin to handle and causes flaking, redness and itching.  Dandruff is a condition that causes the sebaceous follicles in the scalps to produce too much oil, causing flakes of hair to appear on the hair follicles. Dandruff is also known as seborrhea and can be extremely unpleasant and frustrating. There are several possible causes of dandruff on your eyebrows including the shampoo you use, the length and thickness of your hair, and any skin allergies. The causes of dandruff on your eyebrows may also be caused by dry living conditions or a condition called seborrheic dermatitis. If you are experiencing dandruff and don’t know what to do about it, here is the ultimate guide to treating dandruff on your eyebrows. WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF DANDRUFF ON EYEBROWS? Dandruff is a common skin condition that causes patches of dry, red skin on the scalp. It can also affect the eyebrows, which produce small flaky pieces of skin.  The symptoms of dandruff on eyebrows are similar to those of the scalp version, including dryness, itchiness, and scaling. However, people with dandruff on their eyebrows may also experience an excess production of oil, which makes the flakes look greasy. Some of the symptoms of dandruff on eyebrows include #1 CRUSTING: Crusting is a term used to describe a condition where the skin becomes dry, cracked, and leathery. It can affect any part of the body but is most commonly seen on the hands and feet.  Crusting can be caused by a variety of factors, but most commonly occurs as a result of dehydration or malnutrition. There is currently no cure for crusting, but treatments vary depending on the underlying cause. #2 REDNESS: Redness is a common occurrence in humans. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including sun exposure, medications, and infection.  Redness can be uncomfortable and may lead to dry skin. There are a number of ways to treat redness, including using over-the-counter medications and topical treatments. #3 INFLAMMATION: Inflammation is an important part of the body’s immune response, but too much can cause problems. Inflammation can lead to pain, redness, and swelling. It can also cause diseases, like arthritis. There are many different types of inflammation, and each has its own cause and symptoms. Inflammation speeds healing and help remove toxins. Inflammation also protects the body by fighting off infection. The good news is that inflammation can be controlled with lifestyle changes and medication. #4 SCALING: In order for the skin to remain healthy and functioning, it is important that it is able to scale. Scale is a protective layer that sits on the skin’s surface and helps prevent bacteria and other foreign objects from penetrating the skin.  It also helps to retain moisture in the skin, which keeps it looking hydrated and healthy. If the skin is not able to scale properly, it can become dry, cracked, and susceptible to infection. #5 EXCESSIVE OILINESS: Excessive oiliness is a common problem with skin that appears overly moist and greasy. It can be caused by a number of factors, including dryness, inflammation, and genetics. Solutions range from over-the-counter moisturizers to more serious treatments like dermatologic surgery. #6 Hair loss: Hair loss is a common problem that affects many people. It can be caused by a lot of things, like hormones, genetics, and age. If you are experiencing any hair loss, there are a few things you can do to help.  First, see your doctor for a diagnosis and treatment plan.  Second, make sure you are taking good care of your scalp.  Third, eat a balanced diet and get plenty of exercises.  Fourth, keep your head covered when it’s cold outside. Finally, use hair products that are designed to help maintain hair health. HOME REMEDIES FOR DANDRUFF ON EYEBROWS Dandruff on eyebrows could be a sign of an underlying condition, but it is not always. There are many home remedies that can help with this problem. Some of them are: Drinking water to hydrate the scalp and keep it clean.  Use oils such as coconut or olive oil in order to promote the health of the skin and hair.  Applying tea tree oil on the eyebrows for its antifungal properties. Applying lemon juice to the eyebrows for its antibacterial properties. THE BEST TREATMENT FOR DANDRUFF ON EYEBROWS There are many treatments available for dandruff on eyebrows.
