This project is perfect for kids (or for those of us that are still kids at heart). These sun-catchers will instantly brighten up your home or apartment. This DIY tutorial comes from the creative people at The Artful Parent.
For this project, you will need:
-- Plastic beads
-- A cake pan or muffin pan
-- An oven
You can find the plastic beads at a craft store.
Place the beads in the pans
Place the beads in the bottom of the muffin pan or cake pan. Make sure that all of the beads are touching. You can make any design that you want in the pans — it's completely up to you.
Bake the beads
Place the pans with the beads in them in the oven for 25 minutes at 400 degrees F. Make sure you turn on a fan while you are baking them because you don't want to breathe in the fumes from the melting plastic. You can also bake them on a grill outside for about 10 minutes to achieve the same effect without worrying about the awful smell.
Let the beads cool and remove them from the pans
Let the beads cool completely in the pans before you try to remove them.
Drill a hole in the sun-catchers and string some string through the hole. Then, hang them up in front of a window.
Enjoy your artsy decorations!
