Can Stinky Farts Get You Fired?

We all know you can get fired from stinking at your job, but can you get fired for just stinking?

According to a recent case, the answer is yes.
A Pennsylvania couple is suing their previous employer, Case Pork Roll Co. of Trenton, NJ, after the company fired the husband for his uncontrollable gas. Allegedly, 70-year-old Richard Clem's constant flatulence caused a "significant disruption in the workplace" that even overpowered the smell of the company's prized pork roll.
In the lawsuit, Richard's boss harassed him for the smell for many years, and shortly before letting him go, was quoted to have said:

"We cannot run an office and have visitors with the odor in the office. Tell Rich we are having complaints from people who have problems with the odors."

But before you start siding with the company (for you evil, superficial people with sensitive noses), here's a little back history:
Five years ago, Richard apparently had gastric bypass surgery, where he lost almost 200 pounds, but still suffers from side effects that his wife, Louann, describes as "extreme gas and uncontrollable diarrhea".
When Richard was finally fired earlier this year, Louann quit the same exact day and quickly went to file a suit, citing obesity-related discrimination. According to their lawyer, they do have quite a case:

"Flatulence and farting is the sexy part of the story, but my client suffers from obesity, which is covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act."

Now, I don't know how I feel about the lawyer referring to his client's fart as 'sexy', but I get what he's trying to say. They're all wondering how this case became so viral, and well, I think it's safe to say they've truly made a big enough stink about it.

But what do you guys think? Does a company have the right to fire someone if the smell of their gas overpowers the smell of their product?

@mchlyang the problem is that it was caused by a medical reason. (A document medical reason, by the way.) That means he was fired because of something that he could not control. It's not like you or someone other guy who can squelch one if you need to, to hold it in. He couldn't do that. It's akin to being fired because, , having a bald spot.
