Seiya was forced to accept an invitation to an amusement park by the mysterious and beautiful girl Isuzu. What he didn't know was that she would bring him to the decrepit Amagi Brilliant Park, Japan's most disappointing amusement park. Seiya is introduced to the leader of the Park, the "real princess" Latifah, who suddenly entrusts him with saving the park, which is in danger of shutting down. Amagi Brilliant Park, it turns out, is not just any amusement park, but rather one populated by fairies.
Status: Completed (13 Episodes + 7 Specials)
The story is nothing new. However, the idea is pretty unique compared to any anime I've watched so far. This amusement park is full of "fairies" that need the energy from their guests level of "entertainment". As I watched this, the only thing I could think of is Monster Inc. Anime version. It's mainly comedy but there are parts where it becomes emotional. Also, don't be fooled by the cuteness, it's comedy but dark humor is in between. In short, they bring Seiya (the chosen one) to be their new manager in an attempt to survive in our world.
The fact that all of these "fairies" are the amusement park mascots is a huge plus as it's not what you normally expect. All of them have their own unique personalities and different skills to entertain their guests. Seiya is a narcissistic, arrogant, former superstar who at the end, becomes a family of this new world. Isuzu is serious, dedicated, has no social skills and is the former manager and Seiyas secretary.
As mentioned before, the idea of the story is pretty unique. It has a typical Japanese humor but it delivers. Also, the fact that they used mascots as "fairies" and labeled them as a different "race" is pretty original. I expected this to be just a funny kids targeted cute anime but it definitely has some adult humor in between and it can be enjoyed by adults as well. Lastly, who doesn't like a good anime in an amusement park!
I have to say as soon as I heard the opening, I fell in love. It gives you that vibe of "You're about to go on an adventure" and man...the feeling is great and on top of that AKINO is the one singing with her strong voice. The ending song tells you that "the adventure is over, but we will be back". In other words, the opening tells you "Welcome to Amagi Brilliant Park!" and the ending tells you "Hope you enjoyed the park and please come again!".
I've been looking for a good comedy lately, and this one delivered. At first, I was reluctant but after watching it, I'm really glad I gave it a chance. Those who are looking for a good comedy, give this Amusement Park a chance.
Hope You Enjoy!~
