4 Poets Whose Poetry Made You Feel Something Inside

Because today is National Poetry Day.

If you have a heart, you probably naturally love poetry or at least you should. Growing up I grew up writing and reading poetry with left me with a huge love for some amazing poets. Being the sap that I am, I always happen to migrate to those poems that warm your heart and make you feel super fuzzy inside. It's natural.

I couldn't let National Poetry Day pass by without giving proper recognition to those poets that spoke about love, relationships and certain topics that we all happen to deal with throughout life. Keep scrolling to see a few of my favorites and an excerpt from their poems that will instantly melt your heart. Don't believe me? Just watch.
"Never make someone a priority when all you are to them is an option."

-- Maya Angelou
"Where there's a woman, there's magic."

-- Ntozake Shange
"Love is a ripe plum growing on a purple tree, taste it once and the spell of its enchantment will never let you be."

-- Langston Hughes
"Ever been kidnapped by a poet? If I were a poet, I'd kidnap you and put you in my phrases and meter."

-- Nikki Giovanni

Who is your favorite poet or what is your favorite poem?

i would've put shel silverstein in there, yea his poems were childish and simple. but at the same time deep and thought provoking
I'm not familiar with him. I will def have to check him out and maybe he will make my list next time @nobankai
yea you really should @jordanhamilton but he's a little different than the poets you have on your current list
I like all kinds of poets. these just happen to be my top favorite. I don't have a specific favorite taste in poetry to be honest @nobankai
yea so do I, you should see the poem i put up @jordanhamilton it's got kind of a Edgar Allan Poe feeling to it
