Zumba Diary: Day One
As many of you know, my 30-day body challenge transformation is just days away. October 14th will be the day of reckoning. Nevermind the fact that I found myself at IHOP twice this past weekend! I don't even want to talk about it...
In an effort to ramp up my 30-day body challenge goals, I decided to hit a Zumba class at my gym. I had never done anything like it and figured, what's the big deal? It's a 45-minute dance-a-long with moms dressed in Lulu Lemon, saccharine-thumping audio and paint-by-number choreography, so I thought.

And then the class began.
Confused isn't even the right word to describe my state of mind.
This class was packed with what appeared to be 5,000 expert bodies moving every jointed body part in rhythm and on time. I was absolutely clueless. But I wasn't going to be 'that guy' who's too cool to keep up or mock the people out of insecurity.
I moved when there was a pause in the music.
I jumped when everyone dropped to the floor.
I spun clockwise when they went counter.
I led every damn jazz square with my right foot because that was ONE MOVE I mastered!
Fast forward to the end of the class, which flew by, and BOTH my t-shirts were soaked. I know, gross, right?!
I left Zumba, feeling thoroughly fatigued, absolutely pleased with myself for not quitting and utterly confused as to how someone, like myself, could sweat so digustingly without nailing a single dance routine?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Does (or has) anyone else Zumba? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
The next class is in four days. Just enough time to watch as many YouTube videos as I can to master these routines...I hope!
